What are the consequences if the IRA recharacterization is done after the deadline.

What is the difference between recharacterization and conversion.

The informations here concerning IRAs are very appreciated and I am sincerely grateful.

Any thoughts?

I have added a notice with simplified time lines for conversions, recharacterizations, and reconversions, as well as a section dealing with relief extensions after the recharacterization deadline. --Blbarnitz 11:52, 11 December 2013 (CST)

External links question/issue. Wikipedia suggests they are not normally placed in the body of an article.

According to Wikipedia:External links, external links "should not normally be placed in the body of an article." This article has a number of places where IRS publications are clearly the final authority, but I'm questioning how they are placed within the body of the article. Could they be changed to references? --Peculiar Investor 12:36, 7 February 2016 (EST)

I removed one link in the body of text. Recharacterization is described in IRS Publication 590-A, so I added that to the external link description. IRS Form 8606, Nondeductible IRAs is acceptable as-is (no better way to use this link), so I think it should remain. --LadyGeek 15:44, 7 February 2016 (EST)
