James M. Dahle, MD, FACEP grew up in Alaska before attending school in Utah and residency at the University of Arizona. He spent four years in the US Air Force, practicing medicine on four different continents. Now he is a practicing emergency physician in the Salt Lake City area and has been a Boglehead since long before the transition from the Morningstar Vanguard Diehards forum. He developed an interest in personal finance and investing as a resident after being taken advantage of by several unscrupulous financial professionals. In 2008, he wrote Chapter 4, Individual Retirement Arrangements, in The Bogleheads Guide to Retirement.
He started The White Coat Investor blog in May 2011 in order to help doctors, dentists, their trainees, and other high income professionals get a "fair shake" on Wall Street. In February 2014, he published his first book, The White Coat Investor: A Doctor's Guide to Personal Finance and Investment.
