I am moving some cash into a new savings account at Etrade. We are an existing customer and have accounts there already,
plus they have a good rate.
In setting up the savings account, the 'bank agreements and disclosures' have a LOT of info, do we need to read/digest all this,
and completely understand, or is it standard for all banks and savings bank accounts? I don't remember opening a savings account at a bank to be as
involved, in the past.
Basically, my question is, is there anything important that I should be aware of? This account to be opened won't be used often and not for checking.

I have opened savings account about 2 years ago at Chase Bank for their promos, and yes I did get a mini booklet (some 40 pages odd) about the terms and conditions of the savings account. I closed it after 6 months later (expiry of the bonus period), and minimal activity in between except for deposits of tiny checks here and there. No withdrawals.

So not unusual.

no. you either want their product or you don't. the most important part of such agreements is "we reserve the right to make updates and changes to our product agreement at any time and for any reason."
