Office Depot has download version of Deluxe+State for $22.45 today. Just bought it, and within a few minutes after receiving the e-mail confirmation of my order, I got a second e-mail with the download link and activation key.

No problem buying an online code from Amazon with my BoA card. Same procedure as every year. I prefer to have them in my Amazon library so I can't lose the activation code and can easily re-download them later if I need to amend a return of past years.

+1 I also like having them in my Amazon software library forever. Definitely helped out on a couple of amended returns.

Yeah, they used to have a link "Digital games and software" under "DIgital content and devices" in the account settings, which is currently missing for some reason. I believe that's what your link shows.

There is another way to get to the download though if you don't know the link: go to your order history and select the time frame when you bought the item (it does *not* work when you use the search function). Then find your software and click "View order details" and then "View your item". This reveals the download link and activation code. It worked for me with the H&R Block that I just bought yesterday, and also with the ones from prior years.

Somewhat off-topic, but NewEgg was sold to an overseas company years ago, so that might be another point of consideration when deciding where to purchase something. There is another way to get to the download though if you don't know the link: go to your order history and select the time frame when you bought the item (it does *not* work when you use the search function). That works too. The "View Your Item" button is a drab oval and my brain just didn't see it as a link.
The old "digital games and software" links have really been scrubbed from the site.
The gsl in the amazon.com/gsl presumably stands for Games and Software Link or Games and Software Library.

Why direct links to it have been removed when looking at things like your "digital content" is bizarre.
It's like they don't want you to see your past digital downloads or download them again.
Maybe so if you need them, you will repurchase them again.

Got Premium for $32.50. Last year we had several new tax situations all at once, so we bought both H&R Block and Turbotax and compared the two; in the end we filed with Turbotax because H&R Block had one error we couldn't correct for (Turbotax had a different stubborn error, but we found the place to fix it eventually). We'll probably do that again this year even though our circumstances are somewhat less complicated this year, and if H&R Block works may continue going with it as it's the cheaper option.

When they had the CD's it was made and shipped long before the tax software was ready so the first thing it did was to download the current version of the software.

The I decided I would like to work through our taxes and compare to what the accountant comes up with. I like to understand what's going on.

Don't worry, the boat is still safely moored. For at least five years, H&R Block tax software sold for less than Black Friday deals on certain dates Dec-Jan from stores like Newegg, Amazon, Wallmart. Last year the lowest price was around December 15, with a close second in late January.

No, that won't work. Once you've prepared one state, the data file cannot be opened on a computer without the same state program installed.

You have to prepare the federal return only. Then you copy the federal-only data file to the second computer. Use the first computer to prepare only the first state, and use the second computer to prepare only the second state. The two state returns are not linked to each other, except through the credit for taxes paid to another state. Most people only have to copy two numbers from one state return to the other.

In most cases, using two computers will only allow you to e-file one state return. The second one has to be filed on paper.

No, that won't work. Once you've prepared one state, the data file cannot be opened on a computer without the same state program installed.

You have to prepare the federal return only. Then you copy the federal-only data file to the second computer. Last year I ordered the Mac version with gift card and looking back at the email, I see I could download either.

I have pc and mac download links showing on my newegg email confirmation from my purchase this morning. I d/l and installed, activated PC, but it would be interesting to know if the mac d/l works. Net price $14.99 assuming my $20 Lowes gift card works. The gift card sent by separate email states no expiration date.
