I just bought it at Newegg, but as I was checking out it stated thanks for buying at Best Buy. All the other forms have Newegg. I thought they must have some agreement. I experienced the same download issue.

The tip to manually enter the activation code made it work. Maybe cut&paste added some cruft to the code that prevented it from working.

Downloaded and installed.

OK. Now I understand what your issue is..

When I first entered my Email in HRB, HRB/Firefox had my email as pull-down option, so I clicked on that email for email box 1. When I went to email box 2, used to typo validation, the semi-autofill has not available, so I typed in the my Email. HRB bounced those as not equal, yet they were. Solution for me, I cleared box 1 and hand typed the email. HRB accepted that.

So if your email was auto-filled, try with clearing that and then manually enter your email.

In Edge (comes with Windows) go to settings, and in the left pane at the top in the search box type "pop-ups" (without quotations). The entry "Pop-ups and redirects" will be displayed in the right pane, where you can modify it.

Also clicking on the lock image at the top of browser, just left of the web address, will display some quick options, and tracking prevention is one of them. You can switch it off/on.

Other browsers have something similar to that.

OK. Now I understand what your issue is..

Out of curiosity I looked at the price of downloaded program TaxAct Deluxe 2022 to compare price with H&R Block. I was using it years ago when it was reasonable priced.

Now it is $139.95 and Includes 1 free state return, every additional state is $60. Even with currently running AMEX offer 30% off a purchase online at TaxAct.com, it is $97.97 - how are they able to price it so high, what is their business model? I guess it is to drive people to use their online application so that they would be able to access customers data.
Edit: they also have All-States Edition $115.

I agree. TaxAct was real cheap (about 22.00) when I tried them tax years 2013 & 2014. It was also a pain to import 1099's. Had to use a third party to convert them so it can be imported.

I got my H&R Block Deluxe Fed/State from Newegg (24.74 including tax). Installed without a problem.
I believe TurboTax is also getting to expensive. Used to do both TT and H&R to confirm final numbers.
Will only use H&R Block this year.
Also just saw Amazon's price match H&R Deluxe/State.

I had the same error trying to purchase via Amazon with my Chase card. I didn't know if I'd have another opportunity later today to get online so I changed the payment method to another credit card and it went through. A minor pain in the knowledge that I won't earn my Chase card Amazon rebate for the purchase but didn't want to chance the deal expiring.

So maybe just a problem with Chase? I was planning to pick up an Amazon gift card today anyway (for 6% cash back + 40 cents/gallon off gas at the grocery store). I'll see if it lets me use that first before trying other cards.

I had same issue with Amazon store card (synchrony bank) on both Amazon App and Safari on iPad.

I was ordering the Deluxe plus state for Mac online download in case it matters which configuration you’re ordering.

Decided to try Amazon’s chat support to see if they were any good. First agent was worthless, but escalated to second level support (aptly named Guru) who was more capable. Had me remove amazon card and add it back to the account.

When that didn’t work he offered $5 credit to make up for the inconvenience.

So I used different payment method (Chase cash back card) and got it for $17.49 plus tax.
