Late Medicare IRMAA notice

Post by bdoran » Tue Dec 03, 2019 5:10 pm

Has anyone not received their IRMAA notice fo 2020. My brother and sister-in-law received theirs over 2 weeks ago. In the past I received in late November. I know I owe IRMAA and wondered if notice is lost for my wife and me, or just needs more time.

I received mine on Nov 27th via email. I signed up for email delivery and it has worked out well. No worrying if it got lost in the mail or if I misplaced it and it's easy to keep and find it in an electronic file.

Thank you all for input. I will give it more time and probably sign up for e-mail notice next year.

I haven't received one, but I filed an SSA-44 - got married in 11/2018 - in April of this year with a copy of our 2018 taxes and had my premium rolled all the way back to the minimum. Maybe that was my IRMAA notice? I checked Mymedicare.gov and I have no messages.

I have not seen one yet. I'm sure it will be listed on the invoice (the one that says "Invoice" and "This is not an invoice" at the top) in January.

Yes, got it in the mail about 2 weeks ago.

And just checked online at myMedicare.gov. The updated IRMAA premium for 2020 is shown on my “premium due” records on the web site.

What is the reason for the urgency?

The DW has not received hers yet - don't really care when it arrives..... will pay when it arrives.

Login to your social security account. You'll find the your Medicare premium under Benefit Details->Medicare. Calculate IRMAA from there

Got mine today. I made it into the first level and it wasn't close. My wife will be paying it too come the end of March. Oh wait, she just retired a month ago - new year, much lower income. By the time I figure out if we need to file SSA-44 forms it will almost be time to begin taking my RMDs and then next year she will take her full SSA retirement.

Boo hoo. Retirement is so much work. I should just send them all of our money and they can give back what they don't want.
