Kitchen drawer slide hardware recommendations needed

Post by Valdeselad » Fri Sep 13, 2019 6:49 pm

Hi Everyone,

We are having trouble with our kitchen drawer(s) slide hardware (I assume this is what it is called). The drawers do not open and close smoothly (never have and they are getting worse). We are looking to purchase new slider hardware for a depth of 22" and I'm looking for those with experience in this area to provide any brand and model recommendations. Not looking for the cheapest and willing to pay more for better quality if it's worth the premium.

Thanks for your help!

You may want to check out cabinetparts.com. They seems to have a good selection, with reviews.

There may be others, but we have Blum hardware on our cabinets and am very happy their soft close products. Only question would be how they retrofit into your existing cabinets.

Blum or KV are good choices.

Bought four Accuride 1029 Center Mount Slides 23" from cabinetparts.com in January 2015 and they worked like a charm.

The best is Blum.

LEGRABOX is awesome.

Agreed that Blum has been the gold standard forever.

I used Custom Service Hardware for replacement slides when the "soft close" plungers on some of the cheapo ones in my house failed.

Another vote for Custom Service Hardware and Blum. Also make sure your drawer boxes are structurally sound and have square corners. If not, the new drawer slides won't perform as advertised. If you're considering the Blum undermount slides, the drawer boxes have some very specific size requirements. Standard side mount slides usually require that the drawer box be 1" narrower than the opening they go into.

Thanks all...interesting comments about Blum but having said that they aren’t even an option on cabinetparts.com. Perhaps they choose to only sell direct and it’s not an indication of poor quality.

+1 on Blum soft-close full-extension cabinet drawer slides. Heavy duty, glitch-free operation in all my custom cabinetry for 9+ years.

Another vote for Blum. Used them when I built a ton of base cabinets for my basement. Big upgrade from the knock offs the builder used on the main floor.

Every brand, depending on what is available to you, has different grades from economy to contractor grade to premium, etc.
Select based on price, availability, and quality.

If you are not sure, check the store/vendor return policy (free shipping and return shipping, no restocking fee, full refund on unused product) and/or call or email inquire if you can purchase one pair to see if it is what you want (physically inspect).

Our son installed soft slide hardware on our drawers years ago. I do not know the brand but they worked well. Later we remodeled kitchen with new cabinetry with soft slide that is great. Sorry I do not know the brand.

Whatever brand you choose, be sure to consider soft-close hardware if you don’t already have it. We recently remodeled our kitchen, and soft-close was a game changer for me. I’ll never go back to basic hinges and slides.

I'm sorry, can't offer recommendations for drawer slide hardware, however I feel compelled to respond since I recently went through a broken drawer slide ordeal.
My observation is that a broken drawer slide is one of the worst home repairs. Roofing, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, concreate, remodel, hot water heater, furnace, etc. is easily accomplished by hiring a contractor. A broken drawer slide.... good luck. The job is too small.
I'm an older big guy and laying on the floor while stuffing my large body into a small kitchen cabinet is painful to say the least. Three trips to Home Depot and 3 days later, I got it done. Not perfect, but workable.

Good luck.
