[Forum software update] Tracking the Original Poster in a thread

Post by LadyGeek » Tue Jan 01, 2019 2:42 pm

When reading a long discussion, it becomes very difficult to determine which member is the Original Poster (the one who started the thread).

Requested by many members, the forum software has been modified to highlight the Original Poster in the thread.

The forum software, phpBB, uses the term "Topic" to refer to a discussion thread. For consistency, the Original Poster in each discussion will have "Topic Author" appear just above the username.

This includes the first post of every topic / thread.

Does this mean we’ll need to start calling the OP “TA”?

Just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

This modification is really great. I had no idea how much time I spent searching for OP names! Thanks!

If multiple topics are created with the same subject and then merged, will only the earliest (by time stamp) OP be considered the TA?

If a thread is merged, whoever is the first post becomes the topic author.
