fidelity brokerage link question

Post by vasu100 » Sat Nov 10, 2018 3:41 pm

I just realized my 401K enables Fidelity Brokeragelink, so I am thinking of moving everything from my 401K into Brokeragelink, and then doing a simple 2-fund portfolio
- 60% FZROX (zero cost total market)
- 40% FXNAX (bond index, admiral)

But I cannot figure out how to do this in one day. Currently it looks like I have to move my money to Brokeragelink on day-1 (Monday) and then buy on day-2 (Tuesday). Not the end of the world, but with recent market volatility I would prefer to do this all on one day, so it is just a rebalance into lower cost options. Anybody know how to do this ? I cannot reach Fidelity today so I figured somebody on this forum probably knows - thanks in advance for your help !

You can't buy FZROX in a 401k.

Oh - that changes everything. Back to drawing board to rethink that plan. Thanks.

Yes you can.

I did.

My brokeragelink in my 401K is limited to 20% of the total 401K balance. I sold 20% in value of a Willshire 4500 fund and bought FZROX. No problem at all.
