Intermediate Treasuries ETF - SCHR vs VSIGX?

Post by Pomegranate » Sat Oct 13, 2018 7:29 pm

Looking to park around $10k into treasuries (taxable account) - I can afford VSIGX but after some googling I found that SCHR has even lower ER - 0.06%
Any reason to prefer Vanguard product? Any other better options?

They are equivalent. It really makes no difference whatsoever.

Have you considered just building your own treasury ladder? That's what we ended up doing.

I now remember that we concluded VSIGX (a.k.a. VGIT) is ever so slightly preferable.

Things have changed since that older thread. The VG funds switched to following a pure Treasury index. So, both the VG fund and the Schwab ETF follow a 3-10 year Treasury index now. So, they are fully equivalent in terms of their portfolios.
