Rick Ferri's Bond Portfolio at Fidelity

Post by happyyoda »

I have accounts at Vanguard and Fidelity. To implement Rick Ferri's recommended bond portfolio, I have shortlisted the following funds at Vanguard (with expense ratios):

60% Total Bond - VBTLX (0.05%) - Vanguard Total Bond Market Index Fund
20% TIPS -VIPSX (0.20%) - Vanguard Inflation-Protected Securities Fund Investor Shares
20% High Yield Corporate - VWEHX (0.23%) - Vanguard High-Yield Corporate Fund Investor Shares

Could someone please recommend equivalent funds at Fidelity?

Thanks!

The wiki has a fidelity page

https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Fidelity But they don't list an equivalent junk bond fund as bogleheads prefer their risk on the equity side. I suppose an equivalent would be sphix.

You might look at a high yield bond etf but some don't like bond ETFs. Hyg or shyg.

This fidelity article has some junk bond recs.

Or better yet take your risk on the equity side.
PS, Your post gives the symbol for high yield but you call it short term tips fund.

Use 80% IUSB (which is a total bond market fund that includes high yield at market weight) and 20% in either TIP or FSIYX.

I think IUSB is most in the spirit of Ferri's views on holding high-yield bonds. He would be even happier if something like IUSB was available in traditional mutual fund form.

Sorry about the typo, I have fixed the description for:
High Yield Corporate - VWEHX (0.23%) - Vanguard High-Yield Corporate Fund Investor Shares
