condo maintenance - AC unit

When I moved in I had my HVAC cleaned out and inspected. The guy who came out recommended I get my AC unit "coils serviced". How often and why do you bogleheads have AC Serviced and what does it entail, cost etc?

Coils do not need service. Yes they need to be cleaned if the get really dirty but only then. The guy was trying to get extra service calls. Most modern AC units need no service unless they are broken.

Maybe the coils were filthy. There are 2 coils. The coils inside absorb heat and humidity from inside your space, and the coils outside expel the heat.
