On most other sites my username is a word that happens to also be a girl scout cookie (though i did not find that out until years after it had been my normal username). Wanting to stay a bit more anonymous, i translated that to gscook.

Pyramid schemes are bad and not very bogleheadish. So by handling my own portfolio, utilizing low cost index funds, being debt averse, and staying the course. Hopefully I'm funneling the gains to myself instead of outside entities.

I don't think he meant sick as in "sick". He meant sick as in "wicked".

But not wicked as in "wicked". He meant it like, you know, "bad".

But not bad as in "bad", but as in good. You know? :D

Try #2:

"Lady" - My gender (female).
"Geek" - I'm an electronics engineer (software and hardware) and am into all things tech.

Pajamas wrote:Had to come up with a user name when signing up for an account. Bent my head down to think without closing my eyes and saw the pajamas I was wearing. So "pajamas" was the first word that came into my consciousness and I went with that as it was the easiest thing to do. I capitalized it because it is a name.

Joke - told as a true story. A guy who gives talks on trends in health care technology was visiting his brother, whose wife is a radiologist. He came down to breakfast on a Saturday morning and his SIL was sitting in her pajamas reading x-rays on her computer. He exclaimed her example would be great for one of his talks - "Just think, my SIL can sit at home in her pajamas and read x-rays!" To which his SIL responded "I really don't even have to wear pajamas. I'm only wearing them because you are here."

Mine is taken from the names of Captain Literally and Captain Irony, two characters portrayed by cast members of sketch comedy group Studio C. Also a bit of a dig at Ironic by Alanis Morissette, which isn't actually ironic at all, as pointed out by stand up comedian Ed Byrne.

I like funny things.

My name is John... Years ago I had a boss who was really condescending, and he started calling me Johnny, which was quite irritating. A couple of my women co-workers picked up on that, and started calling me Johnny too. In their case it was more of an expression of endearment. As time went on I became more accepting of being called Johnny. A handful of people still call me that.

If I was a new Boglehead today I think I'd pick "catdude" or "catdad" for my user name. For awhile I was doing volunteer work for a cat shelter, and wound up adopting four senior kitties. They're fun to have around -- I enjoy them every day...
