I wrapped up Season One of Narcos. I thought it was pretty good, but maybe not quite as good as I was expecting from the rave reviews? Either way, I plan on continuing to Season Two.

I just started re-watching Midsomer Murders.

This is a wonderful show. The mysteries are clever and inventive. There is always some interesting or unusual context. Examples: horse racing, hunting, sewing circles, literary club, historical re-enactments, competitive rabbit breeders, flower growers, concert orchestra, and everything in between. The characters are always well developed and interesting. They keep coming up with new ideas and somehow fit them into a single middle-class English county, Midsomer, and the seemingly endless list of small towns it contains. There is always conflict, jealousy and competition to supply plenty of suspects.

Despite the occasional humor the mysteries are complex and often shocking.

One of my favorite bits of humor is the episode with a conflict between two villages: Upper Warden and Lower Warden. Lower Warden is at a higher elevation than Upper Warden leading to confusion in driving to one or the other. We see nice manicured lawns and high-class shops in Upper Warden but abandoned bicycles and other clutter on the sidewalks and alley-ways of Lower Warden.

Another (never emphasized or even mentioned) aspect of the shows is how the detective's wife nearly always has, coincidentally, just joined some club, attended some event, or volunteered for some cause with which the murder victim and all the main suspects are involved. One reviewer joked that she was "the most elusive serial killer in the nation." My wife and I joke that, whenever she shows up, everyone else should head for the hills. "Run away! Run away!"

The show is in its 20th season and is as fresh as the first. And you will not soon run out of episodes to binge on!

Rick and Morty, on Hulu. An animated series that's "out there". I just finished Season 1 and thought it was hilarious. If you like intense "adult-oriented" humor, this show is for you. Bear in mind this show originally aired at 1 AM for a reason. South Park can't come close.

Brookly Nine-Nine, on Hulu. A TV sitcom based in a Brooklyn (New York city) police precinct. You don't need to think too hard, so I watch these episodes during my workout. (Pull-ups and Push-ups)

I just finished the first season of Fargo and will continue watching. It's a great show! Billy Bob Thornton's performance is fantastic.

I'm starting that next. Went through Breaking Bad, then on to Narcos Mexico, then finished The Last Kingdom (forgot how good that one was) and am about halfway through Haunting of Hill House. Unless something else grabs my eye Vikings is next.

Each season of Fargo is based on a different premise and story. Unfortunately Billy Bob Thornton doesn't appear in seasons 2 and 3. And IMO those seasons are much worse for that.

If you want more of Billy Bob Thornton check out Goliath (TV Series 2016– ) - IMDb on Amazon Prime.

I just finished DD season 3 and I was looking forward to season 4 and then a week back I heard Netflix slashed DD too.. :(

Anyway, I have started peaky blinders just now.. heard pretty good reviews of it and so far it looks good. I think I'll stick to it for now.

Btw, Movies are way to crappy on UK region netflix. Anyway How can I change my region for better movies? Read a couple of reviews but nothing looks convincing. https://www.vpnranks.com/purevpn-netflix/

Daredevil; at this point the only Netflix superhero show worth watching (I might watch another season of Punisher). The others - Jessica Jones (season 1 is decent), Luke Cage, Iron Fist... - are comically bad, makes you wonder how they even got funded.

Wife and I just finished "Killing Eve" season 1. Was really good until the ending, which was super odd.

Watching Babylon 5.

Watched it a long time ago and enjoyed the series.

Just finished Season 5 of The 100 on Netflix. For those into sci-fi and dystopian storyline this is a great series. Can’t wait for Season 6.

After the devastating nuclear destruction of Earth, The 100, who are juvenile prisoners, are among the first people from “The Ark”, a giant space station built after the nuclear apocalypse, to return to Earth after 97 years. I like the character development from each of the main stars as the succeeding Seasons progress. One of my favorite characters is Octavia. She is wicked (in a good way).

The Expanse is an amazing series, too.

The Expanse, available on Amazon Prime.

It's a Sci-fi taking place in a futuristic setting in which humans have colonized Mars and the outer regions of our solar system. There's high political friction between Earth, Mars, and the outer planet governments, and the tragic destruction of The Canterbury sets into motion events that will effect all of humanity. It's formatted similar to how Game of Thrones is, following the point of view of a handful of different characters throughout each episode.

It's the very best/most faithful book-to-TV adaption I have ever seen. I binge-watched the first two seasons and then immediately began binge-listening to the audio-books (which have also quickly become favorites).

Funny, I did not binge-listen but binge-read the book series after I watched the entire Seasons because I couldn't get enough of The Expanse. Anticipating the release of Book#8 "Tiamat's Wrath in 2019.

Haha, I haven't been so invested in a story like this in so long. This series is like a drug addiction to me -- I'm always craving more and can't get enough of the books, and the characters are so well developed that I feel like I personally know them lol. I didn't realize the next book is coming out next year -- I'll have to catch up fast! I'm so glad Amazon decided to carry on the TV series too!

Yo Punisher is nice.. I am up for a season 2. Dare Devil for me was nice.. I liked that. Both of the season. Luke Cage season 1 was okay.. Don't know what they did with season 2.. Iron fist was very average. I was not expecting DD to get cut after season 3.

I just binge-watched Love American Style on CBS's Decades Channel over the weekend. I hadn't seen it since it first aired in the early 1970s.

It's fun to see both the actors from the 50s and 60s in late-career appearances, and young actors before they "made it" in later shows. Also, they showed the Happy Days pilot that appeared as the episode "Love and the Television Set."

I told my wife that watching these cable like MeTV, Antenna, and Decades (and others) is a real lesson: flipping channels, one moves from late-night bail bonds commercials to HVAC/tech commercials to HIV commercials to Viagra commercials to reverse mortgage commercials to stair chair and step-in bath commercials to portable oxygen commercials to "he didn't have life insurance" commercials.

I never could separate Harold Finch (Person of Interest) from Ben Linus (Lost). I always think "So THIS Is what happened to Ben. He got a new gig after the island." It seemed the perfect job for him, right down to being driven by a bunch of numbers.

Captain Alatriste, based on the popular novels by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. Great fun with much buckling of swashes, climbing in and out of windows, sword fights up and down staircases, etc. On Amazon Prime, in Spanish with subtitles.

Based on a NYT recommendation today, I watched S1.E1 of Corner Gas. Laugh out loud in parts, for me. YMMV.

‘Corner Gas’
When to watch: Now, on Amazon.
“Corner Gas” is one of the most popular shows in Canadian history, a single-camera, low-concept comedy set in the small town of Dog River, Saskatchewan. Brent Butt created and stars in the show as Brent, the owner of the local gas station and convenience store. “Gas” debuted in 2004, so it can feel a little bit slow by contemporary standards. But it’s a richly imagined world with well-defined characters and an easy sense of flow and structure. It is also the most Canadian show I have ever seen, and that’s saying something.

I couldn't resist trying it after that description. Plus I have Canadian friends. I can't wait to tell them.

There are 6 seasons free on amazon if you have Prime.

So different from Peaky Blinders, the last series I binged watched.

Agree, as happens with too many series over time.

Try the British version of House Of Cards.

The Handmaid's Tale, on hulu. It took a few episodes, but it suddenly got interesting and will continue to watch it through the end of the series (Season 2).

Hulu has a ton of TV shows which I've watched over the years, but it's not enough to keep my interest. I'll cancel Hulu after Season 2 and go back to Netflix. If I change my mind later, I'll restart the subscription.

Some of the filming of THT is done just to the south of here. I've walked over the bridge and along the "hanging wall" by the Grand River many times. Nowadays it evokes unpleasant memories of the hanging scenes from early episodes of season 1.

Margaret Atwood Will Write a Sequel to ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’. Maybe some day they'll make a series out of that too.

The "You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment" became a real "thing" between the two of us, for much too long... We still manage to use it on occasion :happy
Or just the last part, "I couldn't possibly comment".

I admit that I didn't see the ending coming, though in retrospect (especially when watching the entire series a second time, I probably should have).

There were a few side themes that we didn't particularly care for, but most of it was very well done, and it all worked together.

SO much better than the USA version, especially what it deteriorated into.
And we haven't watched the couple of seasons, and based upon most reports, we won't waste our time giving them a try.
"We wouldn't be able to get that time back", etc.

Lost In Space. Only on for 3 seasons but loved it as a kid + reruns every saturday night on ME TV. Be honest, you loved it. June Lockhard,Bill Mumy, Angela Cartright, Morta Kristen, +sometimes Marc Goddard go on yearly conventions. Very gracious with their fans. My wife and I just finished watching through "Babylon 5" on Amazon Prime. It has some acting quirks to it, it takes about an entire season (out of 5) to really get started, and the last season is really kinda optional, but this show is a real sci-fi gem. Some of the storylines are just sci-fi cool, and enough of the characters are engaging enough for you really root for them.

It has stood the test of time, and I highly recommend it to the more seasoned sci-fi fans.

I like a lot of the Acorn/BBC shows. Just finished Doctor Foster, a five episode series. Others:

A Place to Call Home, an Australian show set in the 1950's
Vera, a British mystery
Shetland, set in the Shetland Islands of Scotland
The Affair
Fortitude

Just began Season 3 of Narcos. Will be interested to see how this season holds up given how Season 2 ended.

Recently I have watched La casa de papel also known as Money Heist - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6468322/
It is one of the most amazing robbery/Heist show I have ever seen. Recently they have announced a third season which I am desperately waiting to watch Here is a complete review for la casa de papel both seasons https://www.ivacy.com/netflix-vpn/la-casa-de-papel

I thought it was excellent. Can't argue taste.

Just started watching Dirty John on Bravo. It's about a wealthy woman who gets played by a scam artist. Pretty good so far, but it might be easy to quit if you just watch the first one.

We enjoyed the first season but for the lack of any kind of resolution at its end.

The second season was a complete non-starter for us. We watched the first two or three episodes and decided that between the repetition and marching in place we just didn't really care enough about the characters or what happened to them. I wish I could get that time back.

(Narcos, on the other hand is a favorite, more personally because I had the opportunity to work on some of the cases referred to during the past few seasons.)

The Looming Tower on Hulu. Time well spent.

I just started Narcos, on Netflix. So far, I like it.

As for The Handmaid's Tale on Hulu, I was disappointed with the ending. I cancelled my Hulu subscription.

Vikings... Can't get enough!
Every week I tell myself this is the last time I'm watching. And every week I still tune in hoping it will get better. (Much to my wife's dismay.)

It's really just a soap opera anymore.
