So, uh... I just spent quite a bit of money at Micro Center.
Not only did I pick up a 7600 X3D bundle, Micro Center matched NewEgg's pricing on a new Fractal North pc case - so it was $400 for a 7600 X3D bundle (CPU + motherboard + 32 GB memory), and $110 for the case.
None of these was strictly necessary, but it still pretty nice. The 7600X3D runs ridiculously cool (while playing the CPU-heavy Civ6 for three hours, the rear exhaust coming out of the CPU was basically venting room temperature air). Granted, an NHD-15 is kind of overkill for the CPU, but that's how I like it; the system is more or less silent in operation.
Meanwhile, the case is not only pretty, it was ridiculously easy to build in. And it's pretty.
Now to reassemble & sell my old system to defray some of the cost. I'm... a little less excited by that prospect, and will probably procrastinate for a bit, but if I can get $500 for it (5900X + RX 6700 XT), I basically got a free system upgrade.

Did that bundle come with an Asus motherboard? I thought that with all the Asus TUF gaming motherboard issues last year, they were someone to avoid. I'm not ready for a new build yet, but I want to see if anything has changed.

Yeah I threw my TUF in the garbage and have bought two MSIs as a result of that debacle. Have not had a single problem with either machine since.

Yep, it is an ASUS motherboard, and they were indeed responsible for that whole exploding CPU debacle last year. The first thing I did was flash the BIOS. Micro Center has its own warranty on top of that.
