VAT refund from Amazon UK

I (in the U.S.) ordered some items from Amazon UK. Is it possible to claim a VAT refund? On the few times I've traveled to other countries I was able to get VAT refunds for items purchased in stores.

from what i read I don't think they were supposed to charge you VAT if you are outside the eurozone. So I think that was a mistake on the seller's part. I would contact Amazon for a refund and I think they would help you with that considering their seller is not following the proper procedure for who is and isn't charged VAT. IANAL.
