Hi, seeking suggestions on how to address 2 401k questions:
1. I am required to have 1 allocation that applies to 401k pretax and 401k post tax. Ideally, I would want stocks to be in the 401k post-tax and a percentage of 401k pretax in bonds. How can I best manage asset allocation with this constraint?
2. My 401k contributions are backloaded heavily this year. In general, I prefer to dollar cost average to smooth risk. What is the best approach when I am funding the 401k account in short-time period?
401k pretax/post tax 1 allocation and lumpy contributions
Re: 401k pretax/post tax 1 allocation and lumpy contributions
From what I have read here, this seems to work for some plans: Contribute to traditional and invest in bonds then change contributions to Roth and invest in stocks.Hubub wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 8:44 am Hi, seeking suggestions on how to address 2 401k questions:

If that does not work, don't worry about it. Managing to hold only stocks in Roth 401k is actually not very important in the big scheme of things.

Hi, thanks, that is an option to look into.
