Boldin/NewRetirement bug?

Post by Nadir »

Have any Boldin/NewRetirement users noticed a bug when creating scenarios for comparison based on changes in Accounts and Assets. If I change one it changes them all. What am I doing wrong?

I found the same thing a long time ago. It really need a lot of improvement. I will probably let my subscription lapse.

Perhaps call them, they have good support I hear.

But perhaps for better help, what exactly are you changing, different assets altogether, updating balances, rates of return, etc.?

I am not that good with NR, but I recreated your issue, meaning when I updated a retirement account balance in the baseline plan it updated it throughout each scenario, and when I tried to reduce a retirement account balance under a single "test" scenario it updated it in the baseline. Does this make sense as to your issue?

I would call them to see how you could create a scenario with different assets/account balances, there has to be a way to do it, I just don't use the tool enough to know how to do that.

Yes, that's the issue. An update to any scenario changes all scenarios to the same number.

Upon further review, I believe the behavior we are observing is not a bug, but rather an intentional feature of scenario planning in financial software. Modifying the primary inputs would necessitate adjustments across all scenarios to maintain consistency and accuracy. To model these account changes you could use one time expense deductions or one time income addition for that particular scenario. I do believe this is super confusing and I was initially frustrated. I would suggest they implement a brief explanation notification or warning to provide clarity of why the base line plan is changing. Long time lurker first time poster.
