Thanks to all!
I used the chat, wrote that I couldn’t swing the full rate but would continue at the $5.95 + fees. I’m happy, Sirius is happy.

Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
This does not help. I actually used a virtual CC with Sirius. The bill kept accruing new charges even after the virtual CC was cancelled, because I did not explicitly cancel the service. You would have to fight it out with them, and possibly collections. Not worth the hit to my credit. A calendar reminder to cancel is a better way. But they do make it hard with their limited phone hours.HoosierJim wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 4:52 pm Just cancelled, I was in no mood to listen to any pitches, it took 32 minutes. THIS is why I use VIRTUAL credit cards whenever I can now. I can set the expiration, the vendor doesn't have my real cc number, and I can limit to a vendor or monthly limit.
Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
Just did the chat dance and got the $4.84/mo (tax&fees included) for 12 months. $58/yr is fine with me. The process took about 12 minutes.
Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
I did a $99 3-year deal - about $120 with taxes and fees. Not sure when I started it. I do have a calendar reminder to cancel before expiration. Just did a search by keyword on my calendar to find the reminder. Didn't know you could do that. Looks like it expires around the end of November 2025.
Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
Just did the dance over chat. Had to reject two other offers. I used the following line, cut and pasted: I want the plan I'm on at the price I am currently paying. If this isn't possible, please cancel my account.
Platinum with streaming $5.32 per month inclusive of fees and taxes for 12 months
To complete the changes, I will be sending you the terms and conditions in a series of messages. Please read through it and let me know if you agree.
Let's go over the details. The Monthly SiriusXM Platinum Promotional plan you chose starts today and comes to $5.32 per month for the initial 12 months period, which includes fees and taxes. Useful info 8foot7, thanks! I need to renew in Aug.8foot7 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 11:10 am Just did the dance over chat. Had to reject two other offers. 12 X $5.32 = $63.84
So $63.84 is the out the door price?
Usually they throw some other charge on top of that.

Out the door. I do pay monthly, though, but the charge on the card will be $5.32 every month.hudson wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 11:32 amUseful info 8foot7, thanks! This is a purely luxury purchase. With podcasts and the Apple One music pass plus decent FM/AM radio options in town, and the little I drive, I certainly don't need SiriusXM. But $5 is a rounding error in our monthly budget and I do enjoy listening to Squawk Box on CNBC as I shuttle the kids around to school and daycare in the morning. That's worth 17.5 cents a day to me, and I also enjoy Lithium 34 and NFL Radio.

I like XM for vehicles because it's effortless and idiotproof. I don't have to think or jump through any hoops; it's there.
If there's a better service at better rates, I'll jump ship.
Here's the "deal" that I got as of last Aug. 1
Package/Plan Subscription Term For Full Term
XM Music & Entertainment (Advantage Discount) 1 Year $83.88
SiriusXM Video 1 Year $0.00
U.S. Music Royalty Fee $17.95
State & Local Taxes $7.13
Total Charges $108.96
Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
As I posted before, I have successfully subscribed to Sirius XM Music and Entertainment package for 3 years for $120+/- in a 2016 car. See below for my old post:
There’s a deal posted on Slickdeals for returning subscribers for $99 for 3 years plus fees, etc. that turns out to be about $125. This is for the Music Entertainment plan.
https://slickdeals.net/f/16061314-retur ... rchV2Algo1
There’s a lot of caveats, but some folks have successfully reactivated their subscriptions and some other folks have canceled and resubscribed. One caveat is concerning radios in older model cars. Lots of comments from Slickdeals users, which, by the way, along with Ben’s Bargains, are sites I used to visit and get deals through when I was accumulating more stuff. At this time I am trying to go the other way.
I haven’t tried this yet, but it’s tempting.
I don’t recall seeing a post for this deal, but apologies if I missed it.
Update: I called last week about this deal and was told that it only applies if your vehicle is a 2015 or older. We have a 2016 and I asked about an exception since it is only one year out. The rep said that she would escalate my question and someone would get back to me within a few days. The call came today and the rep had no problem giving me the $99 for 3 years deal. With taxes and feee it came out to $120+/- and I got a credit for the current period. It comes out to $3.33 a month for the Music and Entertainment package that we currently have. Cancel any time and get a refund of remaining time or transfer to another vehicle. Pretty good deal.

Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
I have been paying $4.99/mo + royalty fee + tax = $6.86 for the past 12 months, and this promotion expires next week.
Chatted with them today, but they would not renew at this rate and would not budge. The best I could get out of them was:
$7.99 mo (incl royalty fee) + tax for 12 months OR $8.49/mo (incl royalty fee) + tax "ongoing" (but it could go up if they have a price increase)
I decided to take the lower cost promotion since we have no way of knowing when they will put a price increase in place; downside is I'll need to do this dance again in 12 months. At least you can now do it in chat and don't have to hang on the phone.

I was in the same boat last week, but I decided to cancel my subscription rather than take the 60% price increase. I've had SiriusXM for 16 years, and canceled service once before, and they came back in a couple of weeks with a better offer.techbud wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 1:47 pm I have been paying $4.99/mo + royalty fee + tax = $6.86 for the past 12 months, and this promotion expires next week.

techbud, so your out the door quote was 8.49 X 12 = 101.88 a year plus tax...say $7.13. So $109.11 out the door.techbud wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 1:47 pm I have been paying $4.99/mo + royalty fee + tax = $6.86 for the past 12 months, and this promotion expires next week.

I paid $108.96 out the door last August. Your deal and mine are just a few cents apart.
Your deal isn't bad unless you look at the deal 8foot7 got: 12 X $5.32 = $63.84.

When my contract runs out in August, I'm going to copy 8foot7.

Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
Here's a link for three free months of service on your car radio, no credit card needed. It's only valid for inactive radios that have not had a trial recently. I got it from Mercury Magazines (they send offers for free magazines and e-books). Obviously, it's YMMV, post your results.
https://www.siriusxm.com/trial-eligibil ... Impact-RTD
I' tried to use it on my radio, but it would not work because I recently had a free one-month trial after they could not get the advertised free listening period to work and gave me a free month instead, I cancelled my radio subscription a year ago and switched to streaming with two free six-month streaming offers, since I have wireless Android Auto and my phone automatically connects without having to plug it in.
I tried to use the aforementioned free three months, but it said I did not qualify since I'd just had a free trial. But they offered me three months for $1. I wasn't sure about doing it since I'd need to contact them after three months to cancel/get a better price, but I happened to get a $1 Virtual Visa reward card for doing a survey recently (stupid that they pay such a small amount as a Visa), But it worked perfectly for this offer since it was accepted for my $1 payment and they can't charge me in case I forget to call before it renews at full price.

Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
Renewed two vehicles for one year (Music and Entertainment) via the online chat feature.
"Out the door" price is +/- $76.00 per vehicle, taxes/royalties included. This rate is $2.50 less per month than my last one year renewal. I, too, chose not to use the Advantage plan offer which locks in a slightly higher monthly rate, but precludes one from having to negotiate yearly. Downside to that plan is the possibility/probability of a rate increase at any time.
I don't mind contacting Sirius once a year online. Very painless and took me 10 minutes tops.

I chatted XM and requested your $76 out the door for 1 year. They countered with a higher number. I humbly requested $76 OTD again. They offered $77.04 OTD and I accepted.

Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
Old Music & Entertainment plan was $72 for 12 months ($6 per month) plus the royalty fee. When I went to the cancel page I was offered Music & Entertainment Advantage for $8.49/month (but could go up at any time). Went in the chat to cancel and was offered $7.99/month locked in for 12 months. Actually accepted it and was then offered $72 for 12 months ($6 per month) without the royalty fee (but bumps up to full monthly price after a year). So without really trying I got an even better price than last year.
Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
I just got this $70-ish offer also. The exact number was $77.22 inclusive of all fees and taxes. I did it entirely over chat.
Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
Renewed today via chat for the Music & Entertainment package, Car+Streaming, for $101.27 which includes all taxes and fees.

Renewed today at $6.99/month total $83.88 for 1 year.
They first offered $7.99/month — I said no, and then they came back with this.

Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
Thanks for this post. I recently had a rental car with it and decided I enjoyed it enough to play the subscription game again after many years of no subscription. In my 2016 I got the three years for $99 with an offer at check out for 5 years. $180.98 or $3.02 a month! Music & Entertainment package.

Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
I had a $4.99 promotional rate ($6.06 all-inclusive) coming to an end, so I used the online chat to request cancellation. The chatbot offered a $5.99 promotional rate, and I countered by saying that I would like to cancel unless they could maintain my current $4.99 rate. This led to an immediate offer to maintain 12 more months at $4.99. To my surprise, the chatbot seems to have interpreted my demand for $4.99 as the total rate after fees and taxes - my next bill will apparently be $4.99 instead of $6.06. Pleasantly surprised how easy it was to renew at an even lower rate...
Re: Don't pay full price for SiriusXM radio
Just exchanged my 90 day Complimentary Platinum Plan for Music & Entertainment at $81.60 yr. Chat Rep started at $6.99 mo then asked to charge my card $7.94. I asked for the agreed $6.99…and he lowered it to $6.80. As he lowered the subscription price, the royalties fee, and taxes & fees reduced also to produce the $0.19 savings.

I used the chatbot to renew just now. Got a $6.99 rate ($7.34 with fees). Slightly lower than the rate I currently have, and it only took a couple of minutes.

I did he same thing today, the chat has gotten pretty darn simple. I don't really mind the kabuki each year now that it is just a simple chat exchange with ritual formalities. "So why do you wish to cancel?", "costs too much...."deskjockey wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 8:50 pm I used the chatbot to renew just now. Got a $6.99 rate ($7.34 with fees). I even got the rep to merge two accounts, something that has flummoxed me in the past.
