Just cancelled my amex platinum. Tried to bend/break it with vise grips. Finally called them for a mailer to send it back to them.

All my cards are now in Google pay. That's 80% of my use; seldom actually take out a card anymore.

As an example, a family member had an old cell phone number that was in a business name a few years ago but changed into the family member's name. Despite this, the Capital One online application did not want to accept the number as hers for 2fa and other purposes and made her go into the branch to set up the account. This is despite the fact that the person had been a customer of Capital One before even the Chevy Chase Bank days.

It seems most banks' and brokerages' agreements contain a provision allowing them to contact one's phone provider to obtain information for identity verification purposes. This includes personal details, type of payment plan, device details, etc. Hard to believe the phone providers are so loose with customer information.

I think this is https://nctue.com/ being used. Probably similar to how we get the "where have you lived, which car have you leased, do you know any of the following people" questions for identification--usually a LexisNexis product being used.

The card was denied so many times. The final straw was I tried to use the card at the airport to make a flight change and, no surprise, it was denied due to fraud detection so I used another card. BUT then the charge showed up on the card anyway even though I had an email and text saying it was blocked due to possible fraud. They told me to seek refund from airline - the airline wouldn't refund because charge was denied. I spent months trying to get a refund from citi before giving up. Lots of calls, "investigating will get back to you", etc - they wore me down and I gave up after 4 months. I have vowed to never do business with them (citi) again. Lost $100.

I'm a fan of the Fido CC as well! It's pretty much my go-to card.

One data point which may be relevant to your situation or not... YMMV.
Recently, I maxxed out several CC's, utilizing 0% APR's. I couldn't apply for a new CC. Some existing CC's lowered their credit limits! Talk about a credit squeeze!

Fido CC? No problem. The credit limit stayed the same. I continued to use it, but it was painful, paying it in full every month.

Alternatively I could, from the App, transfer the money to a bank account - or set the rewards to go to my Fidelity CMA if I were using that as my bank account. But - since I make monthly purchases from the brokerage account anyway it is sitting there waiting to be part of that purchase.

Yup - you can auto-redeem.
I think the complaints/confusion in some other threads might be that you can only auto-redeem into a Fidelity account. So if you aren't a Fidelity customer you would have to setup a CMA or brokerage account - let the rewards dump there - and then transfer them out.

I download transactions, set up autopay, add additional members, configured auto redeem, set travel preferences, and I did not even know that there was another site aside from Fidelity.

Looking at the app right now, it has travel notifications, alerts, lock/unlock, report last/stolen, points, redeem, and you can also see your statements, and your credit score.

Haven't seen a better deal.

It's a good card, I have one. The credit cards I primarily use are offered by two credit unions. Redstone FCU Visa Signature offers 5% on gas and restaurants, 3% on groceries, discount stores, wholesale clubs, utilities, phone and streaming services, and 1.5% on everything else. State Dept FCU Premium Cash Back+ credit card is 2% cash back on everything plus it has an offer side (like Rakuten) where you can earn a little more.

The Redstone credit card automatically redeems the cash back earned at the beginning of the month into the savings account at the credit union and I pull the funds out by Fidelity. The State Dept 2% credit card is manual redemption but it's quick to do and the minimum amount needed for redemption is $5.

As far as I know, there is no option for a statement rebate:

You are always taking a risk with your financial institutions when using a mailbox address.....

If you're content with a 2% card, get SDFCU as suggested in the linked thread.

ELAN sent an email within about 5 minutes of when we clicked the apply button saying they couldn't pull her report because it was frozen, they told us which agency to unfreeze with and a link to the application for when it was unfrozen to continue the application.

We unfroze her credit, did the next step with ELAN and froze her credit again.

So if you aren't a Fidelity customer you would have to setup a CMA or brokerage account - let the rewards dump there - and then transfer them out.

No option to redeem 2% rebate as a statement credit?

As far as I know, there is no option for a statement rebate:

"What types of rewards are available?
Redeem your Points for a variety of exciting reward options, including a cash deposit into eligible Fidelity account(s). You can also choose from Fidelity Rewards, travel, merchandise, gift cards, or statement credit. Please visit the “Rewards” tab on the credit card snapshot page at Fidelity.com or fidelityrewards.com/login for more details on your reward options. The 2% rewards value applies only to Points redeemed for a deposit into an eligible Fidelity account. The redemption value is different if you choose to redeem your Points for other rewards."

EDIT:
Ah, it does say "statement credit". Hadn't seen that before. Perhaps something for you to follow-up on. I'm happy with auto deposit to my CMA account.

Note though it says for 2% you need to deposit into your account (which is fine with me) so I assume the statement credit might be a lessor amount
