Vanguard to Fidelity as well as TIAA at the same time

Post by wannabeteacher »

I have decided to transfer my Rollover IRA, ( rolled over from several sources years ago ), ROTH IRA and Taxable account. By the way I am 78 and have been taking my RMDs.

I am making two assumptions about the transfer of TIAA.

It is GSRA and as such liquid and I have the right to transfer and that more than one Rollover doesn’t apply since they are two different accounts from different custodians.

Also can I ACAT the TIAA account or do I need to call and also mail paper work ?

Moving an IRA from one custodian to another is not a Rollover. It is a custodian to custodian transfer.

Besides, for direct rollovers, there is no limit on number.

Is TIAA an IRA?

With GSRA accounts you should be ok.

Even GRA should be able to be rolled over or transferred as long as you don’t hold TIAA traditional in that account.

I am a retired TIAA participant. In my experience, this is the kind of question that should be handled directly with a call to TIAA. I've done some recent rollovers/transfers to Fidelity and TIAA handled it very smoothly. Good luck.

If you have a TIAA rep for your institution, it may also be a good idea if you contact this person.

Thank you, but i don't think I can. My institution ditched TIAA about twenty years ago and I separated from my institution in 2013.
