L'Appart is decent french cuisine, if you are into that.
BH Consumer FAQ: | Car? Used Toyota, Lexus or Miata. | House? 20% down and 3x salary. | Vacation house? No. | Umbrella? $1 million. | Goods? Costco.

craft restaurant is excellent but expensive.

Somewhat outside the box might be a dinner cruise. Haven't done it myself and the food likely won't be all that great, but the views would be great and some of them probably have dancing.

If you like high-end Indian food, Tamarind is first rate. Reserve ahead of time.
I get the FI part but not the RE part of FIRE.

Make reservations a few weeks prior to your arrival. L'Appart is located inside Le District/Brookfield place, which can be a zoo during the weekday.

If you do not work and live in NYC, I like to recommend Manhatta. It has a similar view as the WTC, but *only* on the 60th floor rather than 100+.
The food is good, though nothing spectacular or exceedingly inventive. And this is not always a bad thing, if foams and esoteric food is not your thing. The view from the bar is a major highlight. Be sure to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your assigned seating

For more traditional fare, Wolfgang's in Tribeca is one of my favorite steakhouses in NYC. For old school Italian, Scalini Fedeli is a strong option.

If you prefer something romantic, I like Le Coucou. The taper candles in the dining room provide a wonderful ambiance. I also highly recommended the Rabbit 3-ways (Tout le Lapin). This particular dish has been on the menu since the restaurant was opened.

It's tough squeeze in a full dinner and an event into a single evening, since a nice dinner requires 1-2+ hours plus transit time. If you enjoy live music, I would browse the lineups for smaller venues like City Winery, Le Poisson Rouge, or Joe's Pub to see if anything overlaps with your trip/dinner itinerary.

Pomo mojo is it unusual for people to have a drink at the bar at Manhatta with the view and then go to another restaurant? The Italian place looks great that you suggested.

I'm unaware if you can just order drinks. IIRC, I believe that we checked in on the ground floor prior to heading upstairs. It doesn't hurt to call the restaurant and ask beforehand. I would advise making early reservations, because prime seating (630-830pm) fills quickly. My wife stayed up late in preparation for our milestone dinner, and made a reservation exactly 30-days out at 12:01AM.

Pomo mojo so our plans have completely changed. We’re hoping to walk around stone street for a happy hour or two and maybe finish the night ny the seaport, Hoping to eat at one of the happy hours and just walk a little. I’ve done some yelp reviews but thought I would ask as you seek very knowledgeable:). Any favorite spots ? Thanks!

My wife used to enjoy the pizza at Adrienne's. It's always crowded and loud as a bomb on most nights. I don't have any recommendations for the South Street Seaport because it always gave me a suburban mall vibe. I'd much rather eat in Tribeca or a little farther north in the West Village. If traveling along the Eastside, the LES still looks a little gritty though the (slightly) lower rent still attracts new food talent. For the most cutting edge cuisine, one could argue that you need to travel to Brooklyn.

Three of my favorite pizzerias in that district
1. Kestes (formerly on Bleeker Street)
Rated by an Italian food magazine as one of the best in the world.

2. Lombardis - there is a question whether Lombardi's was the first pizzeria; it is the oldest
(the great grandson is a partial owner today)
https://www.yelp.com/biz/lombardis-pizza-new-york-4

3. Di Fara -- I've been to the Brooklyn original many times and this one is always solid
and long waits. I've not been to the downtown branch. Unfortunately the owner (Mr. DeMarco) passed
away last year - prior to that he has made every pizza in Brooklyn since 1964.

the seaport is the exact opposite of the request you made in your OP: “a local gem, not a tourist spot”. You are going to be in one of the best eating cities in the world for a milestone, I’d encourage you to rethink your whole plan, leave the fidi and eat/have fun in the village or LES.

Financial district? Fraunces Tavern. Nothing fancy but good food. George Washington bade farewell to his troops here before heading South. https://frauncestavern.com/

A few blocks away, near the Oculas is Eataly. It has a Very, Very large selection of Italian foods & dishes. The place itself is amazing but more of a lunch “feel” to it. https://www.eataly.com/us_en/stores/nyc-downtown

In the West Village is Jacks Wife Frieda. A great innovative menu. Usually mobbed with people. https://jackswifefreda.com/

Leaving Fidi is your first start.

Tribeca, west village, Soho, Noho, Nolita, lower east side, east village would all be better options than Fidi

Strong list for Manhattan. I have been drifting toward Queens of late. I'd love to see your list of Chinese places.

I'm really not an expert, but here are some that I like:
Mala Project
Han Dynasty (yes, really) I like the takeout
Nom Wah Tea Parlor
Birds of a Feather
Bonnies

I've been eating more Thai lately. Wan Wan is really tasty.

For OP:
A nice night that is somewhat closer to Fidi is to go to Au Cheval for the burger + go to the speakeasy called Saint before or after

Nom Wah is cash or amex card only (and no phone/Apple pay with an amex either) and the nearest ATMs are a little further up in chinatown, be aware of that. Unless you go right when they open you will end up waiting in line a while.

A few blocks away on east broadway is Dim Sum Go Go which I think is the most affordable Michelin star rated restaurant I have ever seen. It is very good, it was surprisingly affordable, everything is around $6-8 per item and if you go early afternoon between lunch and dinner it isn't too crowded and service is quick.

there is a food court inside brookfield in fidi that is varied and good. makes sense for lunch. as for dinner, nothing in fidi begins to match what you can get in west village, which is a 20-30 minute walk. so I would expand your horizons if you have time. for one rec for dinner, ci siamo, west 33 (so a short taxi from fidi)
Never wrong, unless my wife tells me that I am.

Op here.

Looks like there is something called Elevated Acres that looks like a park with a beer garden with good views. Looks close to where I am staying….hotel indigo Wall Street…..is this worth visiting?

Nice to try something before heading out to dinner.

Was also thinking a tour of Wall Street. Our last visit we visited federal hall and Alexander Hamilton grave at trinity church.
