OK, this is what happened... I am collecting receipts and what-not to be able to calculate the Cost Basis when the time comes to sell my house.
I have not been able to find my HUD Statement from the settlement.... well I found the first page attached to a photocopy of my 2000 Federal 1040 income tax form.
And I also found a State form attached to the deed that breaks down the taxes paid at the settlement that are usually found on Page 2 of the HUD Statement.
Is there a way of getting a copy of my 2000 HUD Statement from the government or some other agency?
I tried the Title Company but they went out of business. I think that usually, the HUD statement is 2 pages only.
I know I am up the creek with no paddle.

On this same subject. I know -- two years later. Could I use an Affivadit instead of the HUD statement?
What exactly is need to "as proof" of capital expenses, so that I declare those as part of the cost of the house when I sell it?
