Treasury notes at auction

Post by dave1054 »

Does it matter when I put in a bid at auction for a treasury note? For example, the two year treasury note auction opens on 11/22 and closes on 11/27 on Vanguard’s website. Is there any benefit in putting in bid early rather than close to auction cut off date? Thank you.

I think retail customers just get what they get.

None.

As a small investor you are guaranteed to get the best rate. And it is a auction, so it doesn't matter when you put in your order.

I usually put my auction bid in early for personal, not financial reasons. I've had instances when time got away from me when I waited until the day of (work call, etc) and I missed the deadline.
