If the latter and you don't mind larger quantities, Costco carries many of the standard dried fruits (plum, apricot, cherry, blueberry, cranberry, fig, mango, etc), the quality is excellent and many of them are organic.

Yes, large package with a wide variety (mix) in the package.

Ideally, 2 or more of these mixed packages would let me eat the widest variety of fruit possible.

I'm sure it's high-quality, but most of what they offer is at the very least twice the price of what we get in the Winco bulk bins. Just off the top of my head, around here we have Winco, Sprouts, Hello Bulk Market, Good Earth, and Harmon's that all have bulk bin dried fruit. From my knowledge, all significantly cheaper than those prices. There has got to be something similar in OP's area.

Have you considered buying a food dehydrator? We have a basic one that cost less than $30 bucks twenty years ago when we bought it and now is priced around $50 on Amazon for a similar one. It takes me all of about five minutes to slice up a load of fruit and then let it run for the next day or so. Absolutely no sugar or preservatives that way. We just store in plastic zip lock bags in our pantry and most will keep for half a year. We have our own orchard so I just dehydrate a half dozen batches right after we pick whatever fruit is in season. The rest we preserve using other methods.

+1 Sure you can control what is in the end-product, but it's going to cost more - probably A LOT more. I can buy raisins for ~$2.50/lb every day while grapes are usually ~$2/lb. (sometimes, on sale they can be ~$1/lb). Grapes are ~80% water by weight while raisins are ~15%...you do the math.

Oh, I eat plenty of fresh fruit and other good foods. However, I contend with very specific circumstances - dried fruit and protein bars fit perfectly.

Here's a good brand on amazon.
amazon has gotten so good that things are a fraction of the price for quality not found in most places or readily available.

"Contextually" (means from different contexts and perspectives) much of what is called "food" at the chain supermarket and walmart is not healthy and not "food".
So, on topic, searching for "dried fruit" can turn up a broad range of "fruits" and foods.

of course, fresh fruit and food is far far better than dried, etc.

"freeze dried" fruits from Trader Joes, at the store or order. Is very good.
