Vanguard Customer Service Mega-thread

I have a simple question for Vanguard, a company I have been with for close to 30 years and have maybe contacted a couple of times. Today, I found that I do not have the ability to send secure messages, there is no option on the page for it. Vanguard has a single number for contact, no email. The phone number routes to an automated system that is pretty useless. After 5 minutes with it, I was told the wait was 20 minutes, then hung up on.
Time to look for alternatives. Hella thing to do to me in my old age.

Some customers still have secure messaging. Some don't. This mega-thread pretty much beats the issue into the ground: viewtopic.php?t=354745

Is there something unusual about your situation?

Or is Vanguard telling you all new account creation activity is shut down for two weeks? That seems unlikely - this board would be lit up like a Christmas Tree.

Perhaps Vanguard is not a good option for you. Is Fidelity or Schwab an option?

Or is Vanguard telling you all new account creation activity is shut down for two weeks? That seems unlikely - this board would be lit up like a Christmas Tree.

I just created a new account this week. Worked fine.

Tried to open a trust account, send my paperwork in, and received an email asking me to log in. I tried to log in to Vanguard but the site locked me out. I called Vanguard, but they could not unlock it and said it will be two weeks to resolve the issue . I said I have a large amount of money I woul like to transfer in and if you wont fix the problem with in a day i will go somewhere else - never heard back from them. It is frustrating.

that could be a precursor of things to come...take heed.

you can implement Jack Bogle's ideas at any reputable brokerage.

Just moved all to Fidelity. It has been two weeks and Vanguard is still working on my login issue.
