Judgment at Nuremberg (1961) directed by Stanley Kramer

Dramatization of the American tribunal’s trial at Nuremberg of four Nazi judges for war crimes. This was held after the international tribunal’s trials of the top Nazi leaders had concluded.

All star cast! Cast includes Spencer Tracy, Burt Lancaster, Richard Widmark, Marlene Dietrich, Maximilian Schell, Judy Garland, Montgomery Clift, William Shatner, Werner Klemperer. Schell, a virtual unknown, won the Oscar for Best Actor and the film won Best Screenplay.

Fine acting performances by all! Clift couldn’t remember his lines so Kramer told him to just ad-lib which he did to great effect. Recommended!

We watched it for free on Pluto-TV via Roku but wished we hadn’t because it was peppered throughout with repetitive unskippable commercials. We later saw that the DVD is available at our public library but we were so far into it that we just finished watching it on Pluto.

We searched for this movie as we are currently reading the interesting book Letters from Nuremberg: My Father's Narrative of a Quest for Justice by Christopher Dodd, which is about the trials of the top leaders.

Be aware there is some horrifying original footage shown from the liberation of the death camps.

Escape.

It was a Norwegian film without any subtitles, so I don’t know a word of what was said. But it was excellent; the non-verbals convey the emotions.

My wife and I have been interested in touring the resorts at Las Vegas. So I decided to check out Casino. After watching it, my wife said she doesn’t care to go to Vegas anymore. Even though they’ve torn down most of the old places, I feel the same way too. The movie is dated. The music was good. Stupid people doing stupid things don’t do anything for me.

Crazy Stupid Love, on Netflix.

This is a romantic-comedy/drama starring Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling and Julianne Moore. I watched this because of the actors. Chaos results as a marriage totters on the brink. It's hard to describe this movie. It starts off depressing, gets worse then better. I am glad I watched all the way thru.

Trailer.

Because "Disenchanted" is now streaming on Disney+, nostalgia compelled me to re-watch "Enchanted" (2009) (which we still have on DVD) before watching the new film. We had so enjoyed Enchanted with our young child when it was released. Amy Adams' star-making film holds up these many years later, and I enjoyed it even without a young child to share it with.

"Disenchanted," on the hand, was truly awful.

Just watched Whit Stillman's Barcelona from 1994.

I thought it was clever, smart and extremely funny. My wife tells me I'm wrong.

That's why I watch TV alone in the basement.

Why not? It is AMAZING! I mean, if you don't like Marvel comic book or action movies, then that makes sense.

We just watched the sequel and really enjoyed how they approached the death of Chadwick and the introduction to the enemies of this series.

Definitely recommended.

Yes, I also found it had nothing to recommend it. I only went to see it because my daughter wanted to go. It was worse than I expected.

I was impressed with the theater itself. I was surprised by the lush seating and that one could reserve seats.
It's just not a good movie. I've heard terrible things about the sequel, although I wasn't considering watching it anyways.
Not sure who you heard this from. The sequel was a ton of fun! I highly recommend it to anyone who likes comic book action movies.

Definitely worth watching!

This movie was long on my radar, but I just kept forgetting to see it. Really enjoyed it, and its as good as the reviews say. I'll just list the blurb for it, in case there's someone who does not know about it.

In a future society, time-travel exists, but it's only available to those with the means to pay for it on the black market. When the mob wants to eliminate someone, it sends the target into the past, where a hit man known as a looper lies in wait to finish the job. Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is one such hired gun, and he does his job well -- until the day his bosses decide to "close the loop" and send Joe's future self (Bruce Willis) back in time to be killed.
Looper on Blu-Ray DVD, rated R, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, 2012, action / drama / sci-fi. I would agree this is a good movie. I was a bit confused on the plot, but it eventually made sense as things unfolded. Lots of action. This movie won several awards.

Several people that watched it and two of my "go to" Youtube film critics. If I was the type of person to get "offended", the entire premise of Namor (which was totally changed from the comic books) would be offensive to myself and my family. I honestly thought the story had to be a joke the first time I heard it explained, but apparently it isn't. Since I'm not, I just think it is terribly uncreative and not worth watching. I was a fan of MCU, but the last dozen or so films have just been (IMO) awful.

Interesting. Namor has always been standoffish and maybe even a jerk. I love what they did with Namor here and felt it added a ton of character and backstory to what was otherwise a boring blase Atlantis history. It had interesting themes of "fight the power" vs "be the power", which is compelling and realistic.

I felt Dr Strange & Multiverse of Madness was fun and enjoyed seeing some old faces pop up, but seemed like the emotional punch helped that I had watched WandaVision show ahead of time. One might want to watch the Loki series before Quantumania.

The recent Spider Man was popcorn and a fun fan-service to the previous versions.

Shang-Chi was hands-down amazing. Highly recommended.

Overall, I really appreciate that MCU is branching into the lesser well-known characters and doing more world-building.

Watership Down

An animated adventure film from 1978, based on the book of the same name. A group of rabbits travel and fight to make a new home for themselves. In true 1970s fashion, the animation is terrible. But everything else is great, especially the background art and the voice acting, which includes several well-known British actors. The story is entertaining, and deep enough that people find all sorts of allegories in it to the human condition, though the author has stated it's just a story. There are some bloody scenes that might be too much for very young children.

Fallen Angel (1945) Linda Darnell, Alice Faye, Chas. Bickford, John Carradine, Dana Andrews, Percy Kilbride, Director Otto Preminger

A slick con man arrives in a small town looking to make some money, but soon gets more than he bargained for.

The strangest film noir I’ve seen in a long time. None of the plot was believable. Later I found out part of the reason was the studio cut the film to pieces in the editing room prompting Alice Faye to quit the film business for seventeen years in disgust. Still, I enjoyed it and recommend it. I especially enjoyed Linda Darnell’s performance. I streamed it on The Criterion Channel.

Richard Adams is one of my favorite authors. The book is spectacular, the movie, less so.
The impact of the powerful words is somehow lost in animation.

Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. Free on Freevee. Thought both were well worth watching. The cinematography in the second movie (2049) was very striking visually. Really impressive.

Interesting plot and overall idea. Certain bioengineered human replicas (replicants) are seen as posing a threat to humans on earth. Blade Runners are cops hired to retire (kill) some that are on earth. In the first movie the replicants are only supposed to provide slave labor on other planets for things like mining, but some escape to earth. In the second movie, more replicants are allowed on earth, but they are supposed to be more advanced models that pose less of a threat. There are conflicts between the police and the corporations that make the replicants. Some of the replicants are rebelling. They want independence and better lives. Some replicants don't know they are replicants.

Like I said. I thought they were well worth watching. Recommend watching the first one before the second, so you know what's going on in the second.

We wanted another pleasant diversion, so we re-watched Working Girl with Melanie Griffith, Harrison Ford (his acting improves later), and Sigourney Weaver. There is some other good casting.
(Much as we disliked the casting in Season 5 of The Crown, we *liked* the casting in Working Girl. :happy )

If you like to read plot summaries before seeing movies, don't read the review by Roger Ebert. I think there's a bit too much spoiler in it.

It left us in a good mood. Nice, these days...

The Noel Diary....... 2022 staring Justin Hartley and Barrett Doss.1hr 39 mins.

The story of a man who returns home on Christmas to settle his estranged mother's estate. Once there, he discovers a diary that may hold secrets to his own past and of a beautiful young woman on a mysterious journey of her own.

It's a great movie....recommended!

DW has been on a roll lately....she's the one that searches out these movies......I'm just along for the ride! :sharebeer

The Directv is allowing subscribers to watch all their movie channels for free for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Recorded one of my all time favorites, "The Counsellor", and watched this morning.

"Sorry to bother you"
This was great and could have been the working class "Office Space" but I think it went too far into fantasy/sci fi then it need to.

Excellent!!......DW coerced me into watching it. I was a bit reluctant to watch it only because the title sounds kind of weird.... but nevertheless,
it was outstanding!
Free DVD from public library.
While I haven't read the book, the movie was outstanding. Excellent cinematography and performances.
Highly recommended
Did same and have same opinion :thumbsup
I finally broke down and watched Where the Crawdads Sing, on Netflix. I am glad I did. It's a very good movie :thumbsup.
Just finished this and really enjoyed it. The actors did a great job and the scenery is beautiful. After watching it I read the wikipedia article on it and am puzzled by the extremely low ratings on this very enjoyable and beautiful movie. I recommend it!

The Noel Diary which came out on Netflix on Thanksgiving Day. It is a romance between a famous author and the illegitimate daughter of a woman who lived in the author's home when he was a boy. The setting is New England at Christmas time, but the story could happen anytime. The couple travel throughout New England, but it was actually filmed in CT.

The filming of this movie was described in the Shoreline Times last summer. We have been awaiting the release of this movie. There is a scene in a favorite bookstore RJ Julia's that is a mile from a beach cottage we own. There are also scenes at The Griswald Inn where we have eaten with our extended family many times.

I found the movie warm and uplifting. It was great to watch on a cold evening.

Lilies of the Field
A Raisin the Sun

Both starting the late, great Sidney Poitier

Neither one of these films ever gets old.

... Really enjoyed it, and its as good as the reviews say. ...

Yes, I enjoyed "Looper". Here are some other time-related movies I enjoyed.

Edge of Tomorrow by Doug Liman with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.

About Time by Richard Curtis with Rachel McAdams, Domhnall Gleeson, and Bill Nighy.

Source Code with Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan.

Tenet by Christopher Nolan with John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Kenneth Branagh.

Time Traveler's Wife with Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams.

In Time by Andrew Niccol with Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, and Cillian Murphy.

Inception by Christopher Nolan with Leonardo di Caprio, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, et. al.

You would probably enjoy "The Tomorrow War" if you enjoyed "Edge of Tomorrow".

The Northman was a great epic / mythological drama of Norse tale.
Glass Onion: a Knives Out tale was a yawn for me. Did not enjoy the story, set and setting vs. the original Knives Out.

Elona Holmes on Netflix, rated PG-13, Millie Bobbie Brown, 2020, Action / Adventure / Crime. Sherlock Holmes' younger sister goes sleuthing on her own. If you want a fun teenage / young-adult entertainment movie, this is it. This movie won several awards. Not bad.
