Both my and Mr.s Roth are 100% VTSAX

I try to do tax effecient fund placement and calculate my AA across all acocunts. I fill the bond allocation in trad 401k first, then add a little international there, and then everything else (including all Roth and taxable) is simply total stock.

Roth IRA: FZROX 100%
Roth 401k: TSM fund 100%

Aside from $20k in iBonds, my bond and international equity allocations are held in my traditional 401k.

New member Invest212 has a question which I've moved into a new thread. See: [New to Roth IRA - How does my portfolio look?]

(Thanks to the member who reported the post and explained what's wrong.)

This thread is now in the Investing - Theory, News & General forum (general discussion).

Roth IRA is our longest term money (perhaps never even touched until kids inherit it someday), so it is our long term riskiest money.

FID Zero Total Market (FZROX)
FID Zero Extended (FZIPX)
FID Small Cap Index (FSSNX)
FID Zero International (FZILX)
VAN FTSE Ex-US Small ETF (VSS)

Basically, I have total US and International with a bit of a small/mid-cap tilt.

Bonds are in traditional IRA, plus any stock index funds that did not fit in Roth or taxable.

Joint taxable brokerage in VTI/VXUS and operating/emergency cash. VXUS is largest holding and where we hold most of our international.

Mostly FSKAX (Fidelity Total Stock Market)
A token amount of BND for... reasons.
A few individual stocks that I "moved" there a while back from my fun money account because I want to keep them long term. Already sold my cost basis and keeping what's left, not adding to it.

Currently also some "Fidelity ® Growth Company Commingled Pool Class 3" but that's because it's still in my 401(k) (Roth in-plan conversion) and I haven't bothered to roll it over to my Roth IRA yet. When I do get around to it, the money will be invested entirely in FSKAX.

VTI (total US Market)
VEA (developed market)
VWO (emerging)

I thought about doing VXUS but I like to be able to measure Developed and Emerging over my entire portfolio, not an account into isolation.

Mid 50s.

100% VTI. Will likely be part of the kids' inheritance.

Just started one few years ago through a MBD in wife's work 401k. Ineligible otherwise.

My Roth IRA is 100% VT (Vanguard Total World Stock ETF).
It's "IRMAA" (Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount), not "IIRMA" or "IRRMA" or "IRMMA".

Across spouse's and my Roth IRAs, we're 100% in hold-to-maturity zero coupon Treasury and Agency bonds arrayed as a retirement income ladder through 2048, with each maturing rung worth 3% more than previous year's rung.

VTIAX and VBTLX. It would probably be different if I had a self-directed option in my 401k, but we end up needing to use accounts fully under our control, like Roth IRAs, to fill in the gaps where my 401k has no good options.

Late 40's (I started this account in my mid thirties, but didn't start maxing it each year until I was 40).

100 % VFIAX

I chose VFIAX in case I wanted to tax loss harvest in my taxable account ( which is 100 % VTSAX), so the funds would be different in Vanguard.

Not sure what the goal is for this account, just to have it for later I guess. Let it grow as long as possible.

Time until retirement:
30+ years

70% equity
30% bonds

My equity is split:
70% USA Market
30% International Market

My bonds are split:
50% Extended Long Term Bonds
50% Long Term Bonds

All together:
50% VTI
20% VXUS
15% EDV
15% BLV

My goal is to hold this until I retire, only investing more into international if it becomes more of the global market or the inverse if America dominates more.

That's funny, because since I posted that it's in a 3-fund portfolio VTSAX, VTIAX, and VBTLX. I'm even thinking about getting out of bonds in that account, but I'm sitting on my hands for now.

50/50 TSM/SCV

My tIRA (mostly bonds and bond funds), my 401k (stock and bond index funds) and my taxable account (mostly appreciated stock index funds facing long term capital gain tax treatment), dwarf my Roth balance so the Roth won’t make a big difference to my retirement one way or the other. I needed the current tax deductions for regular 401k contributions (some eventually rolled over to IRA) more than I needed tax free Roth distributions.

I put a mix of my most volatile asset classes that are most likely to grow big over long term into the Roth because any huge growth in it will leave no tax obligation for my heirs. If those assets flop, then the stepped up basis of my taxable account assets will be a nice consolation prize for my heirs.
A strategy that works only in bull markets isn’t much of a strategy.

Would you go VTWAX? Clark Howard is a big fan of the TDF in Roth. Guess I will follow his sound advice. Plus if i croak it will be basically no maintenance for my SO.

Yes VTWAX would be fine. The main problem with that is that it doesn't allow you to toggle your international weighting. VTWAX is about 65% North American, while my equity portfolio is about 80% US and 20% everywhere else. That is similar I believe to White Coat Investor, as well as where Jack Bogle and Taylor Larimore met in the middle.
I have no qualms about target date fund. They have more cost drag, but also protect you from yourself better than the three-fund portfolio. Another guy who plugs TDF would be Ramit Sethi, who is also strong on the behavioral finance side. It's also a place to just get started so that analysis paralysis does not keep you out of the markets. But after a while, you might do your research and eventually go more the style of Taylor Larimore and go for three-fund portfolio, or something like that. But you shouldn't need to feel bad about TDF at all.
