Consolidated view of married couple's accounts at one broker

Post by bikechuck »

My spouse recently converted her 401K (administered by Schwab) to an IRA with Schwab, I am considering moving my Vanguard IRA to Schwab as well. If I do so can we get a consolidated view of all of our holdings without logging in individually and then adding our information together? Note that I know that there are services that would allow us to do this using two different brokers but I am unwilling to share log in and password information electronically so those services are not of interest to me.

Thanks in advance for the wisdom of the community!

You can do that at Vanguard and Fidelity, so I imagine you can at Schwab as well.

If it doesn’t work, I like personal capital as an aggregator.

Yes you can. DW and I have this with Schwab. Works very well.

Yes, you can add each other as an "authorized user". It's been awhile since I set up our accounts, but I believe you designate for each account you want to add, and you also designate the access level.

At both Schwab and Vanguard I can see a consolidated view of my spouse's brokerage accounts via the authorized user feature, but I cannot see the employer specific 401k account or the RSU account.

Fidelity's tool for this is called "Full View". It works for me.
