Thin, long lasting athletic socks?

Post by TresBelle65 » Fri May 22, 2020 7:49 pm

Can you recommend a good quality athletic sock for activities such as tennis, long walks, etc. wearing tennis shoes? I am leaning toward thinner socks versus thicker ones. Thanks

I use Darn Tough wool blend socks. They have light cushion and I wear them in moderate to warm weather. I don't know whether they would be thin enough but at about $20/pair you can buy one and try it.

There are a few Darn Tough Socks I like. For what you are describing, I would think the Crew Light would be right up your alley. I am a bit of a fanboy of Darn Tough. I ride hundreds/thousands of miles in them on my road/mtn bikes. I used to run in them (don't run anymore). They are guaranteed for life, and I have warrantied 5 pairs (I have over 25) with absolutely no hassle. They are not the cheapest You get what you pay for.

I wasn't going to post this because someone will say "ick" but I have a drawer full of crew light socks and I wear them for all occasions: running, walking, dinner out, work. I just grab a clean pair out of the drawer and put 10-12 pair per week through the laundry coming out perfectly. Very happy with them.

^^^ Hah! I wear them for office work, yard work, biking, special occasions, and everything in between (whatever that could be). I don't judge.

Running ones with or without cushion are like $12 on sale.

50% wool only way to go. Antimicrobial. Less stink. And wicks moisture to outside of sock

Under armor resistor, I have ran thousands of miles in them, they wear like iron. Side note, never buy socks labeled left and right. They are a major pain in the butt on laundry day.

I just buy whatever athletic socks Costco has available. As a runner, I'm more focused on shoes (I get a new pair about every 3-4 months).

These are very good, but perhaps not thin enough:

Darn tough - on year 5 or 6 with a pair, any issues are remedied with their straightforward lifetime warranty.

I've standardized on Saucony running socks because they're comfortable and pretty resilient.

I like Fitsok. I will disclose that I live close to the manufacturer so only buy at their overstock sales, but they are great socks!
