Back to commuting. I've enjoyed getting to spend time with my kids a lot more, but it's hard to be productive with a houseful.

I'm going to visit friends back home, especially my folks. And I think I'll cherish the idea of community and "togetherness", in all it's forms, much more once this is over. "Nothing is over" - John Rambo

I wonder if this changes society like 9/11 did.

We're a more germ conscious society. Before all this, it would irritate me that so few people would wash their hands before eating or preparing food. People seem to be more conscious about the importance of washing their hands now. Perhaps seasonal cold and flu rates sharply dive if more people pay attention to this sort of thing.

How will business change? Are restaurants changed forever? Will there be stricter food preparation guidelines? Will cruise ships ever be as popular as they once were? What about the casino industry? Lots of people in close quarters and opportunities to pickup germs. How do they keep germs from spreading? Will grocery delivery and pickup windows be the new norm? Some of us laughed it off, preferring to go inside to pickup our own groceries, but I'm more open to the idea now.

Will most employers FINALLY be open to telecommuting? Many people have been driving to buildings for jobs that could easily be done at home as "old school" management at many companies were not receptive to telecommuting until this all hit.

Will there be additional checkpoints when entering an airport/sporting event/etc in additional the the checkpoints that were added after 9/11? Perhaps people will be required to take their temperature or be tested for a virus or things like that. How do you all foresee society changing in the future?

Researchers estimate that about 2.5 to 5 billion people—roughly a third to two-thirds of the global population—will need to be immune to hit this critical threshold. Immunity would typically be from a natural immunity as a result of recovery from COVID-19 and/or an effective vaccine.

While it's too early to know for sure, there's some disturbing reports that some who are previously infected might not be immune, and also it's not certain how long this natural immunity would last. An effective vaccine that becomes widely available is the best hope for ending the pandemic.

Be prepared for a long haul - the pandemic may not be over until a vaccine is available, perhaps in fall, 2021.

If it is over by mid-summer I look forward to visiting our children and grandchildren, and to a few New England vacations later this summer and fall. We have already cancelled a condo in Florida and trips to Europe in April and September. Right now we are in our house except for daily long walks and bi-weekly trips to the grocery store.

I hate to say it, but this pandemic may be the first clear sign the human race has outgrown, or over-grown, its niche in the Earth's ecosystem. We have denied climate change, but we cannot deny this.

I wonder if this will change the world economy as countries shorten and strengthen their supply chains, if and when this becomes possible.

I don't know what "over" means in this situation, but I am already planning future travel. Planning trips is very energizing for me.

I have booked back-to-back cruises on a British line (very new ship) for summer 2021. And, because my early September 2020 trip (ocean cruise) to the south of France was cancelled, I went ahead and booked a river cruise on the Seine for later in September. Optimistically, I figure there is a 50/50 chance it will not be cancelled. So, after I get a haircut, I hope to be off to Paris.

Can only imagine how crazy the wait times will be with many flocking to barber shops as soon as is all cleared to reopen for at least first weeks. Probably better to take time off work and go on some weekday morning at that point!

One of the silver linings of quarantine is that because I don't have to represent the company publicly ATM, I can have the exact same haircut as my 4yr old son; I am sporting a serious mohawk right now. Wife cuts everybody's hair, and is quite good at it.

I will have several (>4) beers with my friends.
Other than that I don't miss much. Not yet at least. I stay home and go out in forests and on beaches every day. Lack of crowds, easy to park in most places, traffic is light. What's not to like? What's to miss? Soon I will start biking, maybe I will do some water sports.
I always disliked malls I am don't plan to go near one as long as I still have clothes. It will take years until I will get into one.
We don't go often to restaurants. I don't care about places like Las Vegas. I had a haircut 2 weeks ago.
I went to Starbucks less than a week ago so I am ok. I like my coffee more. I like the environment there better but I don't miss it yet.
I don't miss traveling for now. I have a trip to Europe scheduled at the end of June. We shall see what is going to happen. We might not be able to go anyway even if the pandemic vanishes.

I think the lack of immunity has pretty much been debunked as bad testing or so minute an occurrence as to not be significant. The length of immunity lasting I read 3-8 years in theory based on similar diseases. Sorry no links at hand.

It will be interesting to see if this transferring antibodies from recovered people to ill people works, and if so how far it can be expanded.

A popular idiom suggests that a full-figured lady will begin to sing, traditionally signalling that "it's over." Or at least it cannot be over until that happens, so that is necessary, but I'm not sure if it is sufficient.

I can relate. It hasn't changed a lot for me personally, except for a few things that are nice, at least for a while. I can still work from home, I can still do pretty much whatever else I want to do at home. I can still get takeout or drive through food. I don't have to feel guilty about things I should be doing that I can't now.

Unless a vaccine or a good treatment is found I’m not sure there will be an end, at least not one where you will be hugging a bunch of people.

Ideally I want to fly back east to visit my father, 83. I’m just concerned about the possibility of being a carrier and getting him sick.

Unlike some here I’ve yet to be housebound. Much of my work can’t be done at home. At least many others at work are home so I’m not around many people. And was last at a restaurant just over a week ago.

Wish it would end tomorrow.
