Where to invest 250K

Post by bawaso » Wed Mar 25, 2020 6:56 pm

Hi - thank you to the community for your advice.

I have about 250K cash to invest and in the first half of the year, moved my money to Personal Capital for their management services. However, after many bad experiences with them, I did not make the call yet to deploy the funds into the market - thank God for that! I am now considering moving the money out and thinking of using another service, but super confused as to which one to pick.

So far, I have researched these:
Vanguard - 0.3% managed, access to admiral shares, and no external advice
Betterment - 0.4% managed and external advice
Schwab - Intelligent Portfolio Premium / Managed Portfolio (0.8%)

110K - IRA (cash)
90K - cash
50K - cash
I'm thinking of this money as a safety retirement stash set away for the long term with no intention of touching the cash portion for at least the next 5 years.

My Questions:
1. Would I be better off investing these funds on my own via Vanguard funds?
2. If I choose to go with a managed service, which one would you recommend? The main reason for me to do this is to let this stash be on auto pilot, and I continue to use other money to buy individual stocks to play around with.
