Alt rock meets Grateful Dead -

A fun song

Vampire Weekend - "Harmony Hall"

I have struggled to find newer bands that I like but these guys have a few good songs.

I have not heard them, but DS flew across the country to see them in Houston last year. I defer to his tastes in recent music. DD met him there, and they both enjoyed the concert.

Through this discussion I discovered the NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert channel on YouTube. Lots of great mini concerts to be enjoyed, featuring a wide variety of artists. Sometimes it is worth scanning through the "Up next" listing.

This morning's "find" that I'm currently enjoying is: Peter Frampton: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert - YouTube
NPR Music wrote:]I could walk by Peter Frampton on the street and not recognize him. His long blond hair, which shines like a halo on his album Frampton Comes Alive! may be gone, but as soon as he sat behind the Tiny Desk and began singing, 1976 came rushing back.
Totally agree.

The Residents--Meet The Residents (1974) on Spotify. Pretty bizarre stuff--makes Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa sound normal. I had heard a few of their songs here and there over the years and was pleasantly surprised to see what appears to be their entire discography available on Spotify.

This is an excellent cover!

From the same band, an 80's "flashback" "Into the Night" with a vocalist better than the original IMO:

All great musicians in this band! They appear to be from Australia. :happy

Stumbled onto this a few nights ago. Sounds of Silence from a Simon and Garfunkel reunion at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary Concert. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-JQ1q-13Ek

Dirty Work by Steely Dan.
Saw Steely Dan at a small venue - the Motor City Casino in Detroit - about 10 years ago. One of the most enjoyable concerts I've been to.

Have been listening to and watching some Primus lately - they're pretty eccentric. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ubv6ZpRP-KM

Tonight I'm listening to Passenger. Let Her Go (Official Video) has gotten lots of air play but there are many other great songs. My favorite song of his might be All The Little Lights.

I've been hooked on this entire first album by Bedouine lately. Her simplicity and unpretentiousness are refreshing. I also think she's a talented songwriter.
