S&P has a little drop today to end the month. But still a solid gain for the month of November - up over 100 points, or over 3%.

New record highs await us in December. I feel it in my bones. You heard it here first. :happy
S&P futures are up about 9 points tonight. Hope that it holds overnight.

My prediction of "record highs in December" may be achieved on Monday. Fingers crossed! :moneybag

Next stop 3300 with that attitude, but only if you sell it all today.

A similar story, different broker: During the '07-'09 mess I did nothing, and was back to ground zero by the end of 2010.

Sometime around 2013-14 I was talking with a guy who worked for a customer of mine and the subject of 2008 came up. He said he had his retirement with Merrill Lynch and that he wasn't close to being back to ground zero yet.

Haha, and they call themselves "Wealth Management."

Don't do something! Stand There! Always good advice if your plan is sound. I did that in 2008-9 as well because I wasn't paying attention (a small silver lining during a time of personal crisis).

I did nothing because I didn't know what else to do, lol. Despite watching the free fall, I never opened my statements through the whole fiasco.

I was comfortable in my ignorance.

Jim Simons surely must count with a nearly 70% CAGR since 1988; of course you ONLY made 39% after fees... what a shame.

What do you mean by both your names on it?

The I in IRA stands for Individual. An IRA CANNOT be owned jointly by two people.

S&P has a little drop today to end the month. But still a solid gain for the month of November - up over 100 points, or over 3%.

New record highs await us in December. I feel it in my bones. You heard it here first. :happy
Futures up again this morning.

I stand by my expectation of new highs in December. Santa Claus (rally) is coming to town!

New record highs await us in December. I feel it in my bones. You heard it here first. :happy
Futures up again this morning.

I stand by my expectation of new highs in December. Santa Claus (rally) is coming to town!
Dangit Stinky that's what you said Monday and jinxed it
Well, at least the market opened up. A little.

We’ll see if it holds its gains today.

S&P has a little drop today to end the month. But still a solid gain for the month of November - up over 100 points, or over 3%.

My US and ex-US small value has a healthy bump. Wrong thread I guess :).

Maybe my posts are jinxing the market.

I'll try to hold off on "soaring" comments for a while. At least until tomorrow. :D

I’m not complaining. To the contrary, I want the market to go down.

Ok - I don't know as much as I think I do. I'm wrong and I will sit down and keep quiet in the back of the classroom.

My apology for letting my mouth overload my rear end.

I will say one thing about this forum. There are a lot of past threads that are valuable from different posters that one can learn from.

I don't think you're necessarily 100% wrong. An IRA can only be owned by one person, but it can be under joint management. My wife's IRA is set up so that I can manage it through my Vanguard account. And plenty of folks, myself included, don't really differentiate between their and their spouse's retirement accounts for the purposes of retirement planning. It's all one large bucket. But to stay on topic: Soar soar soar!

At the risk of jinxing the stock market -

And at the risk of being banned from this thread by the Boglehead gods -

I will report that S&P futures are soaring this morning!

(Hope the day and week close that way)

The Futures just popped on a blowout jobs report.

Looks like another pretty decent up day ahead of us.

What is your source for getting prices on futures?

My normal source, which is CNN business, is not updating now.

Fox Business displays the DOW Futures all the time on the morning shows. At least starting with Mornings with Maria at 6am and possibly with the show before that at 5am (I'm not awake then).

Cheers

CNBC.com and marketwatch.com (your one stop source for financial porn) always has futures prices available. For CNBC click PRE-MKT at the top. For Marketwatch click Futures at the top.

STINKY: I use CNN also (the web page). I don't have the TV on during the day so I wouldn't have FOX available per the above poster.

However I did some searching and found this Fox webpage, showing futures (to the right of the hog carcasses  ).

Shows the Dow up 191! Maybe I will use this instead of CNN. Thanks to "Silk" for the tip. :sharebeer
