HDHP to regular HP then return to HDHP?

Post by GiannaLuna » Fri Nov 15, 2019 7:05 pm

I am currently using a HDHP for 2019. I am considering switching to a regular health care insurance plan for 2020 and then return to a HDHP for 2021.

Am I missing something? Is there any reason this might not be allowed?

Thank you.

Of course it's allowed. You just won't be able to contribute to an HSA in 2020.

Actually it is written into some contracts that it is a one way only change as some employers are pushing for people to go the HDHP route. I think it is pretty rare and not sure how enforceable.
