Investment Allocation

Post by psdeliberais » Wed Nov 13, 2019 7:49 pm

Good evening everyone!

My wife and I are new to investing in ETFs and we're not too sure which we should invest in.
So far we have invested $21,580.14 into a few mutual funds ETFs and they break down as following:
VGCIX - $2,991.87
VHGEX - $3127.81
VWESX - $2,947.29
VWUSX - $3,124.40
VUG - $1,559.97
VHT - $1,599.93
VGT - $1,622.18
VOT - $1,516.80
VNQ - $1,554.31
VBK - $1,513.28
We're looking to invest another $70,000 but we're not sure which funds we should invest in. We're looking to become financially independent within the next 5 years, we have no mortgage or debt and we're looking to invest another $250,000 in multi-family real estate. Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks!

welcome to the group.

it's suggested you re-post according to the following format:

viewtopic.php?t=6212

for starters, it's suggested to write out the names of the mutual funds rather than the tickers, since people have to look up the tickers to see what the fund name is.

Also, using the format means you can get better answers to your questions. There's really too many unknowns based on the little information you've provided. Like is the $250,000 sitting in cash now? Why do you want to invest it all in real estate? Do you have other real estate holdings? Do you have other monies besides this $250K? What makes you sure you'll be retired in 5 years with $21,580.14 currently invested, $70,000 additional to invest and 250K in a multi family real estate? and so on.

I agree that you will get more responses if you provide your info with default format. All i can say for now is you have too many funds. I recommend decreasing number of holdings to 2-3 fund portfolio, with funds covering only US/International total markets (VTSAX/VTIAX) and US total bonds (VBTLX) with your preferred AA.
