Should I download Android 10?

Post by CULater » Wed Oct 09, 2019 11:10 am

My phone keeps nagging me to download Android 10 to my Google Pixel 1. However, in the past I've run into snags with a new OS, so I'm reluctant to download this "new and improved" version and live to regret it. Has anybody tried it yet on their Pixel and what do you think? Is it worth it, or should I just pass?

I've been using it on my Pixel 3 for a few weeks now. No issues. I like the new gesture navigation system.

I've been using it on my Pixel 2 since launch with no real problems. There was an update Monday that fixed a number of problems that others faced. I'd go for it.

The gesture navigation was remarkably easy to get used to, but is optional in case you don't like it.

Mine does the same. I do not download because of prior issues. I ignore the reminders.

Since they dropped the dessert name, I would boycott.

I run my pixel 3 on 10 with no issues. I haven’t noticed any real difference but haven’t explored new features.

Same.

Pixel 3 here. Had some glitches with Nova Launcher after update that went away today, even though Nova did not update. Not sure how that sorted out. If you use a third party launcher, you might want to wait for them to update to work out any new quirks, though Nova is running fine for me now.

It is working fine on my Pixel 3. The only thing is there was another update after the initial one and it was over a gigabyte. I am not sure what happened with that but other people reported the same thing online. Either an error pushed it out twice to people that had it already or an update was unusually large (unlikely). Mine still shows as 10 (not 10.01 or something).

I'm waiting. I have everything set up including work apps (pingid). I would hate to have to go back to carrying two phones because of Android 10.
This is not legal or certified financial advice but you know that already.

As I said above, I got it. I often wonder though why I rush to get it right away. Frankly, there are no new features I need. One thing I have noticed is it is tighter on permissions and warnings. That I like. For example, it gave me a notification that Lyft was getting my location even when the app wasn't running. I got to select what I wanted to do. Three choices: Never let it get my location, get only when app is running, or get all the time. Well, they don't need my location when I don't have the app open so glad to shut them out of that. I think you could set that in the prior version, but who is going to go through all their apps and look for odd permissions?
