I'm retired but don't withdraw from my VG IRA accounts. When RMDs arrive I plan on having them sent to my VWIUX, Vanguard intermediate tax exempt muni fund every December. Though as always I will reevaluate when the times comes.

I set each December the maximum I should withdraw the coming year. (It is mostly less than that in practice, but is a control number.) I take it out as needed or wanted. QCDs are spread out through the year. Where it comes from varies according to allocation, RMDs, "cash" accounts, taxation and so on. Twenty one years doing it has worked for me.
