S&P500 Total Return Fund (in Googlesheets)

Post by MotoTrojan » Mon Aug 12, 2019 3:55 pm

Anybody know of a fund that I can track in Googlesheets that will account for dividends in the S&P500? I have a XIRR comparison setup for a side portfolio designed to outperform the index, but currently I am using VOO to look-up the current price, and compare to the prices during past contributions. Would be awesome to have something which will account for reinvested dividends.

Would VFINX not work?

Does SPXDIVAN help you? I think it accumulates dividends through the year and then resets at start of next year.

Yahoo! has data inclusive of dividends reinvested for lots of things.

Go here for instructions: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN2311.html

Go here for ^SPX: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/%5ESPX? ... c=fin-srch (double check this has dividends)
Or here for VFINX: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/VFINX?p ... c=fin-srch

I haven't done this in a while, but it was an easy way to get data into a spreadsheet.

Thanks all. VFINX would still not be adjusted for dividends if I am understanding correctly so I don't think that solves it. I have found some resources that would work but Googlesheets won't automatically update the current price as it does with VOO; was hoping to find something that I could peek at with no updates (except when I make a rare contribution).

Looks like SP500TR works!
