Received 2 W-2s from same employer - what to do
I received two W-2s from my employer. They are identical except one of them says City or Local Reference Copy, and the #s in boxes 12a and 14 are different from the other W-2. How should I handle entering the information into my tax software?
Thanks,

Go talk to the payroll office at your employer. They need to fix this before you start inputting data into tax software.icedtea wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 11:29 amI received two W-2s from my employer. Does one of them say "Corrected" ????
My spouse received a corrected w-2, then a correction to the corrected W-2, then a corrected to the correction to the corrected W-2. The payroll/HR had to send out a 5 page explanation of their screw ups.

If you live in a location with city or county taxes that they withheld, then that's what they are showing you on the second W2.
Or if you worked in multiple states on assignments it could be that allocating to different states, but since it specifically references local I'd suspect that
Your tax software should be able to accommodate.
What does it show for locality on the second W2 that has the different numbers?
What state do you live in? Does your city or county have an income tax?

Sounds more like the OP has a 2-page W-2. I had one like that for 2017 because I had five box 12 codes and amounts and a W-2 can only show four. For my employer, the "second W-2" was blank except for names and the fifth box 12 code and amount (sounds like in the OP's case, all the other boxes were duplicated).
I use TT and it that's the case, when you enter a W-2, although it starts with four box 12 lines (just like a W-2), once you enter the fourth box 12 code and amount, a line for a fifth code automatically appears (and so forth) so it appears TT handles an unlimited number of box 12 codes. Although a printed W-2 has the boxes marked 12a, 12b, 12c, and 12d, they go into TT as just box 12 (no need to worry about letters).
As for box 14, that box is used for miscellaneous items and very little of it can be processed automatically by tax software so it will probably ask you lots of questions about box 14 items.

On the W2 entry, it has a place to add more boxes if your form has them. Clearly you must have a local payroll tax.

OP here.
The first W-2 says Page 1, Employee Reference Copy Wage and Tax Statement. The second W-2 I received says Page 2, City or Local Reference Copy Wage and Tax Statement.
I live in NYC where we have state and city tax.
The second W-2 has different info for 12a. Both forms say C but have different amounts listed. The second W-2 also has different info for 14. Both have an SDI amount listed but the second W-2 has a different amount.
How do I enter the different info from 12a and 14 into my tax software? I use TaxAct.

Bump
I confirmed with my payroll dept that I have pages 1 and 2 of a single W-2, not two different W-2s. Page 1 is for federal filing and NY state filing, page 2 is for city or local filing. As I mentioned before, the two pages have identical data except for boxes 12a and 14.
How do I enter this information correctly in Tax Act?

What did the TaxAct folks tell you when you asked them this?
