2019 BOGLEHEADS CONFERENCE DATES

Post by Mel Lindauer »

Hello Everyone:

We have selected the dates for our 2019 Bogleheads Conference and wanted to give everyone a heads up, so you can block off the dates if you plan to register to attend. The Conference dates are October 16, 17 and 18, 2019.

THIS IS NOT THE REGISTRATION NOTICE AND THERE IS NO PRE-REGISTRATION. WE WILL NOT BE RESPONDING TO ANY INQUIRIES ASKING FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AT THIS TIME.

When everything’s in place, I'll make the official announcement, just as I've always done in the past.

When the official announcement is made, you need to act promptly if you want to attend, because we sell out faster and faster each year. The 2018 Conference sold out in less than six hours, so be warned that if you don’t register and pay immediately, you simply won’t get in.

We’ll see the first 200 lucky souls at next year’s Conference.

The Bogleheads Conference Team
Mel & Marlene Lindauer, Mel (TOM) & Kathie Turner, Ed & Patti Rager, Paul & Linda Globerson and Gail Cox

Why such a small conference? Do I understand correctly there are only 200 spaces available? Seems like you should expand the size given the traffic on this site. Thanks.

This has been discussed on the forum before. There's no right answer. That said, having attended my first this year, I can tell you that having a small, intimate group made the conference stand out amongst all others. You really have an opportunity to meet people, learn about them, and spend time together. Larger conferences, IMHO, feel less personal.

Thank you BH conference planning team!!!

The 2019 BOGLEHEADS CONFERENCE DATES

Post by shawcroft »

Thanks to all the Boglehead Conference coordinators for the exceptional work they do to organize and manage the annual Conference. It is great to personally meet some of the Bogleheads you exchange messages with on the Forum over the months and and hearing John Bogle speak is (to me) the highlight of the year.

Can more of presentations of the conference be shared with people who are remote?

Any chance we get a lottery ticket system instead of first come first served?

My guess is that there is a fairly large collections burden they avoid by doing it this way.

Subject: 2017 BOGLEHEADS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT
Mel Lindauer wrote: Mon Apr 03, 2017 7:31 am Obviously we could sell out a much larger venue, but we prefer a smaller group (200) where attendees get a chance to interact with Jack Bogle and the authors and experts in attendance rather than a larger, impersonal gathering.

Perhaps a hybrid approach. Larger meeting room for the general audience or all attendees. Smaller room for the first 200 for side discussions.

Are there any recordings (video or audio) of the 2018 conference?

And/Or, Have a couple entire group events but conduct several topics as round robin rotations to get the small group , easier to interact capability.

Would love it if a livestream/video registration was made available along with registration for the actual conference. Cannot make it, but would love to listen in!

When will the 2019 Bogleheads Conference be open for registration? I noticed several years ago there was advance notice of the date. That would be super helpful since it's hard to be checking the site multiple times a day for a month. Thanks so much.

Will the 2019 conference time/place change after the unfortunate passing of John Bogle? Any hints as to when registration will open? Thank you.

I am wondering if there will be a change in venue this year. South Florida would be nice so that perhaps Taylor might attend this year. :)

UPDATE: The Conference will go on as scheduled.

Because of a death in one of my key Conference registration team member's family, my forum announcement has been delayed. It will be forthcoming, most likely in April.

Stay tuned.
