Project FI promotion

Post by LSLover » Wed Oct 10, 2018 7:42 pm

Project FI started a new $799 service credit promotion on the purchase of two Pixel 3 and/or 3XL. Considering their low plan pricing, the promo looks very interesting.

Those who have experience with Project FI, do you like the service? How would you compare it to others?

Service is great. $20 for talk and text and you pay $10 per one GB data. Note that the data portion is pro-rated. You pay for what you use.

I use very less data. This works for me well.

$15/mo mint (using tmobile towers) is the new low standard for 2GB data nowadays. I ain't paying more than that.

FI base prices are too high , you can do better elsewhere , buying unlocked and skipping that "credit"

Project Fi phones are unlocked to begin with, so that's a non issue if you decide to go elsewhere.
I use less than 2 GB of cellular data most months so I'm good with Fi.
Their seamless international service is the big plus for me...

Only reason I don't use mint is because they don't provide talk & text for moto g phones. :(

It's not a non-issue, because project FI credit is only good on "service", not on the price of the phone, so if you buy at FI and go elsewhere you'll be way overpaying for the phone. You can buy a decent, comparable (or better) phone cheaper elsewhere, and also pay less on service, was my point.

T-mobile has seamless international service, and you can save vs FI as long as you have enough lines for a family plan. I think we're paying $161 after all taxes and discounts for 9 lines.

Good point.
You should definitely not buy a cell phone from Project Fi today with the plan of switching to another cellular provider tomorrow...

Fi works very well for me. Cell reception is terrible where I live. Verizon drove me nuts with missed/dropped calls. I was considering getting a landline, but then switched to Fi. Now my calls go over wifi and are clear and reliable.

By the way, I bought the Android One version of the Moto x4 for a mere $250. I'm not a power user, but I can't imagine needing more phone.
