How would you market cleaning service to AirBnB owners?

Post by texasdiver » Thu Sep 13, 2018 1:45 pm

We have a fabulous cleaning woman who is not very computer savvy and looking for more customers.

There are a lot of AirBnB rentals in our area and it occurs to me that they would be a good source of business.

Anyone have any advice on how to market to them? Would you just click on each listing and send the owner a message? Are there any internal AirBnB type forums?

I would absolutely not do this.

How about NextDoor or Craiglist?

Do not click on each person's ABB listing, as ABB metrics track inquiries, responses, bookings, etc. It will not make people very happy.

I ABB in a small town, I could pretty much find every house listed on ABB by looking at the map and driving around, as things are recognizable. In that case, I could leave a flyer or mail to the owner.

You might be able to find people with a Google Map business link, or a Facebook page? She could join some of the VRBO/ABB Facebook groups if she's in a big city and connect that way.

You could also Google the name of the place, if the owner has named it. I named my homes and have my own website so a smart consumer could find my site and book direct. In your case, a cleaning person could contact me that way.

Some listings are on VRBO and still offer the owner phone number, I know I get random texts some times from cleaners, I just forward them to my cleaner in case she wants to add them to her substitute list.

I prefer word of mouth recommendations, so could you/she look at the various owners and see if you know any one or if you can find them on Facebook, see if you know any of their friends?

I think next door would work as you can target certain neighborhoods.

That's really unhelpful unless you explain why you would not do this.

OP, what would your cleaning person charge? In my area (Seattle) a typical itemized cleaning fee on AirBnB is only in the $25-35 range, and in many cases is not listed as a itemized charge. If you were a host getting $25 from a tenant for cleaning, how much would you pay someone else to do it? $35-40? Doesn't seem like much room for profit on her end.

Ok, the reason = you are spamming people.

I thought that was obvious, sorry.

Nextdoor. You can include nearby neighborhoods.

Whole house cleaning in my area is $100 +/- depending on the number of beds & overall size.
