How do you track your medical expenses for future HSA withdrawals?

Post by goldensam » Tue Sep 11, 2018 6:22 pm

I have a HDHP with an HSA for the first time this year and am on track to max it out. I've already had a few thousand OOP in medical expenses this year but have been able to cash flow them up to this point. My plan is to continue to cash flow OOP costs and let the money in the HSA grow. I am not sure what would be the most efficient way to keep track of OOP costs and would like to hear what everyone else thinks.

I keep a PDF copy of my insurance company statements that show how much I have to pay for each event. In their end, they may not necessary because long term care expenses will eat up my HSA account

i keep a spreadsheet but cashflow it... HSA contribution limits are so nominal that if you use it, you'll never get to a meaningful balance over time.
