Contributing to HSA Provider Discussion - BAML

Post by Clarice » Wed Aug 08, 2018 9:16 pm

I was trying to pick from the many HSA providers and realized most weren't household names. Wanted to go with a recognized name. Discovered Bank of America offers their own HSA. Offers Vanguard funds, including VTWSX. $4.50/month.

We have been pleased with our administrator at healthsavings.com

We are invested in a Vanguard fund there

We fully fund it and don’t make any withdrawals.

I saw a post recently where someone was able to have the ongoing BofA HSA fee waived because he/she was Preferred Rewards Platinum Honors. It wasn't done by default; the poster called BofA to request the fee waiver.

I'd recommend reading our Wiki on HSA's and perhaps some of the many HSA threads on the website. (Note the section on "paying expenses out of pocket".) From my fairly long experience with HSA providers, choosing a recognizable "household name" may well ensure that you end up with a relatively high-fee HSA provider. You can do much better. Many people on the website who closely follow the available HSA's out there have become very positive about Lively over the last year. I just moved my HSABank account to them.
