Employer changing investments in 401K

Post by moneywise3 » Thu Jun 14, 2018 10:33 am

My employer is changing investment options. The two of interest to me are changing as below:
State Street S&P 500 Ind NL C -> Ind class K
Vanguard Mid-Cap Ind Inst -> Inst Plus

I am hoping these to be positive changes in that ERs would go down. It does for mid-cap. However for 500, going from non-lending class C to class K, the ER is going up from 0.05 to 0.11 ?! This has me stumped. Am I looking at something wrongly?
Thanks.

You'd have to ask your employer to know for sure but possibly your plan has lost whatever deal it previously had that permitted it to offer the lower-cost shares to you. It happens.

Are you getting the new ER from your plan documents? When I search that fund I see ER listed on the web all over the place. I found:
0.06% (https://www.ssgafunds.com/product/fund. ... cker=sssyx),
0.013% (https://nb.fidelity.com/public/workplac ... anId=86694)
0.01% (http://www3.troweprice.com/rws/rps/publ ... /CMDVQ.pdf)
0.03% (https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/fund/sssyx)
0.06% (http://www.morningstar.com/funds/XNAS/SSSYX/quote.html)

This thread is now in the Investing - Help with Personal Investments forum (401k help).
Wiki To some, the glass is half full. To others, the glass is half empty. To an engineer, it's twice the size it needs to be.
