Vanguard and Heirs, how was the transition?

Just curious, if you were an heir to an IRA/Roth and contacted Vanguard to complete the rollover etc. How did it go?

We had no problems. Our stocks were pushed from the other institution. Also used Fido with no problems on another occasion.

No problem---In 2011-- 1 IRA at Vanguard split between 2 of us. An IRA/annuity held at Lincoln financial, my 1/2 sent to Vanguard. About the only questions were regarding any untaken distributions for that year and how we wanted to structure the RMDs when Vanguard took over.

Have not had any issue with account transfers/roll-overs of any kind with Vanguard, going back to 2002.

to add--- we could be an outlier as my experiences with Treasury Direct paper conversion and a partial IRA transfer to Thrift Savings Plan also went easily. :beer

It could not have gone more smoothly when our son passed. A person was assigned to us, the paperwork arrived by Fed-Ex, and the funds were transferred without incident. They even sent a sympathy card. Along with his life insurance company, Vanguard was the easiest financial institution to deal with.

The worst one we dealt with will never have "anything in my wallet".......
