This is normal text. This is subscript text. This is normal text.

You can build a fraction by combining "superscript / subscript" like this:

Code: Select all

[super]1[/super]/[sub]2[/sub]
1/2

Use in a formula:

1 = 1/2 + 1/2

Thanks for trying, but remember that we also need to support the software. Allowing members to arrange their own HTML elements means that someone will get the order wrong (or leave out an element). With no further internal checks, the page will be incorrectly rendered in your browser.

For example, putting [/table] in the wrong spot will result in the entire thread being stuffed into a table. There's nothing we can do except edit the post causing the error. That's more work for the moderators, and frustration for the members who don't understand what's wrong.

For this reason, I don't think adding tables via BBCode will be helpful.

If you want to discuss further, feel free to bump Tables feature.

Images that I uploaded to postimages.org in recent months have not been working for several days.

Here is one example in the very first post. Only the word "Image" displays. If you start a reply by clicking on quote you can see the actual image link.

Anyone know what might be going on with that site?

oh, my word!

Look at that building in the background. It's like a stack of pizza boxes!

There actually are some tall building constructed so that the each floor is sort of "rotated" from that below it. But this building seems a bit random about it. Interesting (to an engineer).

The above color is not "true" blue - if that was the intention.

The forum's text color editor is not very user-friendly. For those with a software background - the colors are r g b in hex. The quote's colors are:

Code: Select all

[color=#4000FF]I am trying to add this line, in the color blue, as if it is a response to the sentence above it. lets see if it works. [/color]
Blue is #0000ff, the first "blue" tile at the top-left, 5th color block, as:

Code: Select all

[color=#0000FF]I am trying to add this line, in the color blue, as if it is a response to the sentence above it. lets see if it works. [/color]
Keep the background colors in mind when choosing a text color.

"True" blue in a post (harder to see):
I am trying to add this line, in the color blue, as if it is a response to the sentence above it. lets see if it works.
"True" blue in a quote (easier to see):
I am trying to add this line, in the color blue, as if it is a response to the sentence above it. lets see if it works.

Great advice on selecting color, for a post.
thank you!
just for fun, here is a test of color: trying this sentence in blue or hopefully in blue-ish, mainly to see if it shows up.
trying this one in red, to see what it will look like when posted.
i am expecting these to show up on a background of the usual light/blue/grey, so i am expecting the red one to "look" better to a reader?
and this is all just me testing with this, and if i am supposed to be somewhere else trying this out, please tell me.
I have been a reader for a while, but a brand new Newbie in terms of posting anything on this site.
Thank you again.

Note that it's not necessary to use hexadecimal RGB specifications to set colors. You can also use a more convenient form--the color's name, e.g.

Code: Select all

[color=blue]Color Blue[/color]
[color=red]Color Red[/color]
[color=green]Color Green[/color]
[color=yellow]Color Yellow[/color]
[color=orange]Color Orange[/color]
[color=purple]Color Purple[/color]
[color=navy]Color Navy[/color]
[color=mediumblue]Color Medium Blue[/color]
[color=darkblue]Color Dark Blue[/color]
etc.
show as follows:
Color Blue
Color Red
Color Green
Color Yellow
Color Orange
Color Purple
Color Navy
Color Medium Blue
Color Dark Blue

This handy RGB Color Codes Chart shows a list of available named colors as well as a color picker for more discriminating users.

If I use imgur and use the "image link box" (see below for what I could copy and paste) and then use the "picture" icons above is get the following message:

The error message is from using the wrong link format. I'm guessing you have to be logged in to see that box, but you'll want the BBCode option.

#Cruncher explained this in his post, but I'll repeat it from a different perspective. (This technique doesn't use anything from the imgur image link box.)

Without logging in, I can click on an image, right-click --> Copy image address (or Copy link address). Then paste that address in a new browser tab to view only the image.

The image link looks like this:

Code: Select all

http://i.imgur.com/fEhfgbM.png
Then, select the entire link and click on the image icon (looks like a picture) in the post editing menu. You get this (which is BBCode format):

Code: Select all

[img]http://i.imgur.com/fEhfgbM.png[/img]
which will be displayed in this post:

Right-click, then open image in a new tab. Then, grab the URL as:

Code: Select all

Your post suggests a missing 'o' in the 'oi67' part of the URL.
