Thanks for the help! Putting it all together

Post by d4ldogger » Wed May 16, 2018 1:54 pm

I appreciate everyone’s input on my previous posts. I think I have finally come up with a plan and wanted to see what the community thought. Our retirement accounts are as follows:

Him: 401a, 403b, 457b, roll over IRA
Her: 401k, rollover IRA

Obviously, the investment options are very different. However, I have tried to assimilate the advice and knowledge I have acquire from this community and come up with an plan for these accounts. I don’t want to list all the funds as the other options are not really options I would consider as ER are too high.

Allocation: 70% stock ( 50% domestic, 20% international with 5% EM), 30% bonds

Domestic Stocks:
- 40 % will be split between VFIAX (Vanguard 500 Index Admiral; ER 0.04) and FXSIX (Fidelity 500 Index; ER 0.03)
- 10% will be allocated to FSEVX (Fidelity Ext Mkt Index; ER 0.07)

Foreign Stocks:
- 15% to VTMNX (Vanguard developed mkt Index; ER 0.06)
- 5% to IEMG (iShare core MSCI Emerging Market ETF)

Bonds:
- 30% To be split between VBTIX (Vanguard total bond index; ER 0.04) and IUSB (iShare total USD Bond ETF)

As always, thanks in advance for your thoughts and input.

d4ldogger:

Your portfolio will be much easier to analyze if you change your percentages so that all your funds total 100%?

Use the little box containing a crayon at the top of your post to make the edit.

Thank you and best wishes.

Everything looks fine, I'm not sure what imput you are looking for. It's a bit different than my tilt but nothing wrong with it.

d4ldogger:

I like your planned portfolio for these reasons:

* Your plan meets your desired stock/bond allocation (very important).

* Very low-cost.

* Tax-efficient (everything in tax-advantaged accounts).

* Very diversified (lower risk).

* No fund overlap.

* Simple to understand and maintain.

Congratulations!

Best wishes.
