Good store for roller shades?

Post by yolli71 » Sat Feb 17, 2018 4:55 pm

I'm in the middle of remodeling my master bathroom and want to purchase roller shades for the big window in our bathroom. I've been to Next Day Blinds and The Shade Store. To my surprise, the material feels a lot like "paper." I was a little disappointed and was hoping for a heavier, higher quality feeling material. Do most roller shades feel this way (like paper)?

Does anyone have any recommendations on stores or websites that sell quality roller shades (we're willing to pay a little more for better craftsmanship...we don't want cheap/flimsy looking shades).

I've used Select Blinds for my last 3 houses. Never used the roller shades, always used the cellular shades (top down is wonderful). There have been few problems. One time when a string broke, they fixed it for free.

Fast, cheap, easy to install, good quality, and good customer service. Maybe you'll find something you like here.

I've bought several roller shades from http://www.blinds.com and been happy with them. They were blackout material so not paper like at all. They have a huge range of custom fabrics and styles, worth checking them out if you're ok with getting shades on the web rather than in person.

If you are remembering the roller shade product your grandparents might have had in their home (like mine did) -- I don't think it exists any more.

I've used Steves Blinds a couple of times and been very satisfied. https://www.stevesblindsandwallpaper.com/

I'd be interested in hearing what you learn from the samples.

Wrong, fortunately.

Also. http://www.annwallace.com/roller-shades/

I see Ann's redone her website, so you have to rummage around to find things, but she does have those with old fashioned shade material.

Why are more and more websites being wrecked so that they only look decent on smartphones.

I'll post after making a decision and installing the shade. The prices from these 3 online stores are better than The Shade Store and Next Day Blinds. I'm curious to see what the samples look and feel like.

I've had very good experience with window treatment products, shades and blinds, from Smith and Noble. Some are on the windows nearly 20 years; they still look fine and all the hardware works. In another room I used another company, and after just a few years, they're ragged and the hardware is falling apart.

S&N allows for customization of materials, hardware and controls.

And they are made to precise measurements. (I have one room with nine windows, and while the windows themselves are all the same, their framing rendered them very different widths.)

I just got solar shares installed. The Costco referred company quoted me $2700 before 10% cash card rebate, blinds.com was $1050 but it would be self-install.

I ended up going with discountblinds.com. They were $1600 installed, and look fabulous.

Product quality for all three was identical.

I just had my blinds installed the other day. I ended up going through Costco. They sold Bali roller shades on their website for much less than any other place. Before I saw the deal on Costco, I was going to buy my shades on blinds.com as their pricing seemed to be the best (by a small margin). All of the sites recommended were competitive and had good information on their sites (easy to navigate, etc.). Thanks for the recommendations!

Below is a photo of the roller shade:
